Intermediate Files
During P-1 factoring, Prime95 is unable to resume where it left off if something happens. It just starts over. Based on what I read in the help file, I should be able to resume from anywhere in the process should it be interrupted. What am I missing?

It is definitely the case in both TF and LL/DC/10MLL
that intermediate files are created so you can stop Prime95 and start the program again later. |
Decoding of the shorthand I used in the previous post.
TF means Trial Factoring test The following are really the same test just of different sized or previously tested numbers. LL means Lucas-Lehmer test DC means Double Check of Lucas-Lehmer test 10MLL means Lucas-Lehmer test of a 10+ million digit number |

Prime95 does create intermediate save files during the P-1 test (provided there is enough disk space), the file name begins with an m followed by a code for the exponent. However the message Prime95 prints when it resumes from a P-1 save file is the same as when it starts the test from the beginning, which is a bit confusing, but if you check the progress percentage you can see that it has not started from the beginning. |
