PRP/LLR clients

Hi I'm n00b and wondering which client is best to use for PRP'ing?
Which are there? Which are the fastest? Any processor-requirements and stuff like that.

LLR4 is the fastest one.

Ehh... Where is the LLR4? I only see llr35 and llr36??

As far as i know llr36 is the newest version. At least that is the version that i use.

What version is best for an Athlon which doesn't support SSE2? 3.6?

Jean Penné 2005-07-01 13:59

I suggest that you use LLR3.6

I tested this version on all the Riesel and Proth primes from Chris Caldwell
database, without any false negative nor error message of any kind, so I
can say that it is both the faster and most reliable LLR version for now,
both on SSE2 or non SSE2 32 bits PC's.

Note it is a also a proof of the reliability and of the performances of
George Woltman's gwnum library, Version 24.11, I am using in this program.

I am beginning now to test gwnum V24.12 wich promises to be still better !
I will use it in the future LLR version.

Best Regards,

Jean

I am testing prp2412.exe at the moment and it it is around 5% faster then llr36 on my P4 systems.

Does HT-enabled change anything on with the various clients?

ltd 2005-07-05 15:02

I have a 2.4GHz P4 without HT and a 3.0GHz P4 with HT and for both the fastest Client is PRP24xx.exe (At the moment 2413).

Any performance differences between the two? Does HT make a difference? I know it doesn't with the GIMPS client.

ltd 2005-07-05 21:01

The HT proc isn't faster per core but the overall output is higher when you run two different projects.
For example when i run PRP and the "eulernet" project together on the HT machine i have the performance of 1.4*3GHz none HT processors.
