The Cunningham wanted page: http://www.cerias.purdue.edu/homes/ssw/cun/want95 also lists a few reserved numbers.
I'm currently working on 3,436+, and then I plan to do 3,437+. As a little side project I'm also factoring 11,236+.C136 using Chris Monico's ggnfs together with Tom Cage.
I'm new in this forum You probably mean 3,437-, C151, because you have already completed factorization of 3,437+1. According to ftp://ftp.comlab.ox.ac.uk/pub/Documents/techpapers/Richard.Brent/factors/holes.txt you have already reserved 3,437- and also Franke has reserved 6,263-, 6,263+ & 10,226+. This page is updated 7th February. Also accoding to Bruce Dodson's page http://www.lehigh.edu/~bad0/snfs2004.htm, he is currentle doing 5^320+1. Heikki Laiho |
Does anyone keep a master list of currently reserved numbers? As of today (25 Feb 05) I'm aware of the following:
... Anyone know of other sources?
The definitive list of reserved numbers is kept by Sam Wagstaff (ssw @ cerias . purdue . edu). On or about the first of each month he sends an email round to all the usual suspects, indicating who is doing what. This is his mail for 1st February:
Here is a list of numbers that my paper records show people have said they plan to factor for the Cunningham project. If I remember, I will repost his next list here. Paul |
You can check out http://www.mersenneforum.org/forumdisplay.php?f=51 for information such as how many curves have been run at each B1. This is mainly used to coordinate ECM factoring. It also contains information about which candidates are reserved, although I don't know how up to date it is.

My bad! I intend to keep that forum as upto date as possible collating all the information from the various sources. I am now about 3 weeks behind. This weekend, I hope to get around to it.

Reserved Cunningham numbers
As promised, here is Sam Wagstaff's list of reserved Cunningham numbers as of 1st March.
NFSNET will be reserving another one in the next few days, but we haven't yet decided which one. NFSNET will be reserving another one in the next few days, but we haven't yet decided which one. Paul
I will suggest 2^736+1, C172 or 10^229+1, C164 or 11^208+1, C185 as next NFSNET project. Two latters have been the longest time in Cunningham more Wanted List. I am not going to participate in NFSNET project, because I have only one computer and I will do more ECM work using Prime 95. Today I just finished 10600 curves for M2054, B1=11000000. I have reported curves to George. Heikki |

I am doing 2,1294L with limited resources (2 Pentium IV PC's at 1.6 GHz plus part time on a 2.6GHz PC). I will then do 2,737+ and 2,749+. |
Note that 11,208+ would be quite easy --> equivalent to doing 11,192+ with a quintic.
Funny you should say that. I reserved 11,208+ and 11,212+ with Sam earlier today. The first was chosen for the very reason you give. Because it is quite easy, the other was chosen to keep things balanced --- it is slightly harder than the ones we've been doing of late. 2,719+ was in contention but we decided against it. Perhaps it will be on our list after the two above. I hadn't given 2,736+ much thought. Paul |
I am not going to participate in NFSNET project, because I have only one computer
I hope that no one thinks that contributing the efforts of only one computer is not appreciated. Although it is true that some individuals are able, and willing, to contribute more, each little bit counts. The relations found by a single computer are just as good as those found by a large cluster. We would welcome your contribution.
I will do more ECM work
However, ECM work is also needed before "we" tackle factoring by NFS. Therefore your work in that area is also helping the overall Cunningham Tables effort. Thanks for your contribution. |
I've done the 1000 curves (44M/44G, 0.102 of p50, 0.015 of p55) on P719. I'll also post them to the Cunningham forum.
