50.5M to 51M to 61 bits
I feel like doing something new, so today I’m going to start 50.5M to 51M to 61 bits. I’m fairly sure I figured out how to do everything; the ‘How to start’ thread was helpful. I estimate that this job will take roughly a month. Perhaps I’ll post an update every week or so, just to let everyone know how it’s going.

Update: Week 1:
2371 exponents tested, 32 factors found. |
Update: Week 2:
4756 exponents tested, 65 factors found. |
Update: Week 3:
7129 exponents tested, 104 factors found. |
Update: Week 4:
9519 exponents tested, 134 factors found. |
Update: Week 5.2:
Done. 180 factors found. Results will be emailed shortly. Spring Break starts at the end of the week, which means my computer will be off for a while  . So I'll wait until after Spring Break to start my next range. Until next time, happy hunting. |

I leave my machines running every time I go on leave, and it is nice to see a lot of work done when I´m back... |

I have thought about this, but I'm pretty sure they want computers off during Spring Break (although I'm not sure...they should have sent out an email about that kind of stuff by now). Anyway, during Winter Break, we actually had to physically unplug everything (and if you didn't, they would for you). But by leaving it off, I don't have to worry about coming back the day before classes start again, expecting to find lots of work done, but instead discovering that a fan failed and my computer has been crying out for help for a week with nobody to save it.... |
