The next project is 2_716P
A couple of hours ago we finished allocating tasks in the 5_304P project and swapped over to 2_716P. It will take a few more hours for the last stragglers to return their results and then post-processing on the former project will begin.
The new project, as you may be able to guess from its name, is to factor the 163-digit composite cofactor of 2^716+1. It is one of the Cunningham project's "More Wanted" numbers. It will be somewhat harder than its predecessor. I sieved approximately 1/20000 of the relations we will require when choosing sieving parameters. This is a very small percentage but enough to indicate that it will take around 16000 WU altogether --- though that figure may be subject to revision as we collect more data. Once your client has started sieving the 2_716P project you may safely delete the directory/directories called projects/5_304P_* and all the contents therein. That should free up a few megabytes of disk space. You should find that projects/2_716P_2/ has been created to hold the data required for the new project. Once more, thanks for all your efforts so far. Paul |
Thanks for the update.
(Hopefully this nonsense will flush through the system in a few days.) |
