no factor for M3321929929 from 2^75 to 2^76 [mfaktc 0.14-Win barrett79_mul32] took 48 minutes |
M3321934471 : no (more) factors from 68 bits to 69 bits.

All factored exponents have been taken to 69 bits.
I have done a bunch of work on the exponents in the 3321935xxx range.
attached is a zipped excel file of bit level progress and factors found. Grant
That range has not yet been releaased. Moreover, Uncwilly and I altready did some testing on the first numbers of the new range, so I warmly ask not to waste CPU cycles on them unless the new range is released, to avoid resource overlapping. Of course, your work will be kept, and added to the DB as soon as the new range is released. Thank you  Luigi |

firejuggler, 48 minutes to go from 75 bits to 76 -- what kind of computer (CPU) are you using? Rodrigo |
as a CPU? a core 2 duo 8300.
Mfaktc use GPU. A GTX 460, in that case. |
as a CPU? a core 2 duo 8300.
Mfaktc use GPU. A GTX 460, in that case.
firejuggler, Thanks for the info (and for clarifying that it's the GPU, as I don't use mfaktc). Very impressive!! Let me see if I get this. I understand (and my own PC's experience suggests) that the general pattern is that it takes about twice as much time to go from one bit level to the next, as it did to get to that bit level from the previous one. So if it takes your GPU 48 minutes to get from 75 to 76, then it's 96 minutes to go to 77, 192 for 78, 384 for 79, 768 for 80, 1536 for 81, and 3072 minutes (more or less) to reach 82 bits. Add these minutes up and it would take you (give or take) 6096 minutes, or just over four days, to take an exponent from 75 to 82 bits. Now, consider that OBD Level 16 (http://www.moregimps.it/billion/pietre.php) is 16 exponents at 82 bits. This means that, in a little over two months, you could take OBD to Level 16 all by yourself! :fusion: Corrections to the figures are welcome, of course -- but I'm less interested in the exact calculation than in whether this projection is anywhere in the ballpark, and its significance. There is always the real possibility that I will prove, yet again, that I made the right decision back in high school when I pursued the liberal-arts track. Rodrigo |
In reality though, 1 candidate is already at 82 bits, and there are 14 candidates at 81 bits, and 16 candidates at 80 bits.
Taking one of the 80 bit candidates to 81 bits, and then taking all the 81's to 82 would take 47,616 minutes or 33 days, assuming no factors are found along the way. There is approximately a 17.84% chance that a factor would be found. |
and here is a bunch of expo to 76
