Gave up.

With the right pick for "strategic modeling" (not difficult for a math guy) and a bit of quantum play at the right moment, this all crusade shouldn't take more than 12-18 hours. It took about 20 for me (with many interruptions, and excluding overnight, when the browser was stopped - it can be stopped, it will remember the status when you reopen the browser). The last 50% of the universe remaining in MooMoo's picture takes like 10 minutes to complete (with about a decillion drones or so, working at max speed).

I got nerd sniped by this today, took me about 9 hours. I forgot to eat or drink during 8 of those hours...

There are some nice / nasty easter eggs hidden in that game too :lol:

For the second simulation level we did a script that we start with f12 and stop with escape, and during is started it gives about 15 clicks per second on the quantum compute button. We are supposed to start it when the time is right and stop it when is not, so we "instantly" raise our "ops" to the limit.

We suddenly had other things to do in RL, and forgot it running. When we came back it shows about -15k ops, (minus fifteen k ops) and this:

So, the ops can go negative if you are careless (or stupid).

We clicked on it, for the sake of fun, to see what it will happen, but it prompted us with a new screen, asking if we are sure we want to completely erase all the progress of the game, scores and history etc. I guess this is equivalent with erasing the browser cookies or so. We thought better, and said no. :razz:

I'm glad I wasn't the only one to get hit by it :smile:

I think it took about 6 hours and afterwards all my joints hurt... apparently I basically hadn't moved for all of that time.

Maybe someday I'll go back and gather some stats on the "strategic modeling" choices... it didn't feel like some of the choices were all that different.

It's interesting that curing baldness gives more trust than curing cancer, achieving world peace, or solving global warming. And once you do cure baldness, the message on the screen is "They are still monkeys"

I got my time down to below 5 hours.

An interesting glitch (?) is that if you have ~$17 at the beginning of the game with no clips in your inventory, the "Beg for More Wire" button will appear if the cost of wire is more than $17. But since the price of wire fluctuates, it can dip below $17 again, allowing you to buy wire and progress without needing to beg for it.

After converting the entire universe into paperclips and dismantling your factories, the "Beg for More Wire" button will still be there, and clicking on it will say "Budget overage approved" (!). You'll then get over 170,000 inches of extra wire, but you cannot convert more than 100 inches of it into paperclips. The number of inches will still continue to decrease, but the display will never show more than 30,000,000,000,....,000 paperclips.

The credits show that it is a [URL="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Paperclips"]sleeper hit (from 2017)[/URL].

I finished a fresh run in under 4 hours (3:33:36 total time) :smile:

An interesting side game is seeing how fast you can get through stage 2 and 3 if you took your time on stage 1 to accumulate yomi, creativity, etc. My stats were:

Stage 1: 5h 38m 53s
Stage 2: 6h 1m 36s (~23 minutes)
Stage 3: 7h 5m 6s (~1 hour 3 minutes)

Fascinating. I guess I am hooked for now. How do you reset it? :smile:

I used incognito mode in Chrome. If that doesn't work, try clearing cookies, cache, and history.

What? I missed so much. I released the hyno drones and the game reset to initial state. So I assumed that was it.

Investment and selling paperclips is gone from the UI.

Basically I can only watch it accumulate OPs and creativity and play for yomi.

So that is correct? Did I miss a message?

If you stay at stage 1 long enough, $2 billion isn't enough to buy you anything besides wire. Marketing costs $6+ billion, an additional AutoClipper costs $8+ billion, and an additional MegaClipper costs $11+ billion :jvang:

The upside is that you can finish the game in less than an hour from that point - stage 2 took me less than 22 minutes, and stage 3 took me 33 minutes, 12 seconds.
