Oh, Limb Picks!
Anyone watching the 2020 Olympics?

The 1800 drone facsimile of earth in the opening ceremonies was very cool.
We watched the men's US volleyball team defeat the French and then the women's US water polo team defeat Japan. We were super impressed by the water polo athletes. |
It is 2021. Some would argue that the even should be referred to by their sequence, not the year planned for, nor the year held.

You don't like sparse arrays? |
A rose by any other name ... would still smell as awful

Sequence numbering is better than say, name of host city or year. Both of those are not fully descriptive. 23rd summer Olympiad is definitive. 1976 Olympics is not. Nor is the London Olympics. |
They had an inventive name for programs on NBC - "202ONE Olympic games".
But it is funny. it was not all that informative. Whoever was in charge of menu programming made a blooper and all last week while looking forward to events and time them, and maybe record them - they all had verbose description that was to say the very least confusing. not only they didn't list what event one would see in each 3hr programming slot, no! ...They were all marked with description blurb: "2018 PyeongChang Olympics bla bla bla (three lines more of text)." So one could safely assume that they had some reruns. But those were real future slots for 2020 Olympics. But c'mon - you don't refuse to buy a car that is branded as a "wrong year" vehicle, no? They sell "2022 Toyota Corolla"s already. "No I will not buy it because it is a lie!" Semantics. They just see that as a series of digits in front of a model name. Same with Olympics. Tokyo decided to brand everything "Tokyo 2020". It's everywhere. |
Surprise gold medal for Tunisia in the 400 m freestyle from Ahmed Hafnaoui. Amazing race!

Indeed, and in lane 1, to boot ("the poorest lane"). |

I once came across a Calculus textbook marked "Copyright year N" on sale in May of year N-1. I wondered if students could simply copy it for the next 7 months. |
