I discovered my second second Top5000 prime :)

(hm, I cannot understand why this 'unverified' prime is the only listed on my page. The first prime I found isn't even in my "All of this person's primes" page.)
Victor, congrats on your second Top-5000 prime.

I noticed the same issue when I submit new prime to Top-5000 database. Unverified prime enters the list on my page, but one of the oldest always is missing. Once the new prime is confirmed than I can see all my primes again on my page. Probably some bug but I never reported it to Chris.

Happy hunting for new Top-5000 primes.

I reported this bug, and Chris said it is fixed now. :)

I got my hands on ~40GHz of PIII processors, 48GB RAM, 4TB of disk all wrapped up snuggly in 2 x 3U cases than only use 1kW of power each. All for a nice and tidy price (under 3500 UKP or US$5000).

dotcom crash of years ago + ebay = fun.

I discovered my 20th Top-5000 prime.

555567045*2^397536-1 is prime, and it's 119680 digits large.

Bravo edorajh!! Are your 20 primes still on the list?

I found my 5th Top-5000 prime!
Well, while my 3 biggest primes are ranked
#3625 (1923 · 2^271876-1 // 81847),
#3626 (92997 · 2^271866-1 // 81845),
#3627 (62631 · 2^271845-1 // 81839),
this one (40047*2^234000-1) is only 70446 digits long ...

I'll search higher from now ;)

Congrats, Victor, on your 5th Top-5000 prime! Nice work!

Currently 19 of my 20 primes are on the list. Smallest one just got off the list few days ago (555567045*2^233764-1, 70379 digits).

I noticed your newest prime on the status list... entrance rank 4991. You hit it really well, just bellow 5000.

Usually I don't look forward to father's day. I get socks, or maybe a tie. I don't even own a suit so why do I need a tie?

This year, I very subtly hinted to the family about my amazon.com wish list and it appears to have paid off.

They didn't go for the (Mr. Silverman approved) 2 volume "Calculus" by Tom Apostol. It is very expensive and certainly way beyond my reach.

Instead I ended up with "Calculus" by Michael Spivak, with the answer book. Working through this will take me a long time I suspect. (You all have no clue how math illiterate I am!)

I found the 15C I bought from a classmate 6 years ago for about 70 DM. (stupid!).
I 've still got a 16C (the programmer version that sold very poorly), but lost a 11C. (stupid me!) There is one of the brown ones with red LED, too, and finally one with printer and memory cards. ( Forgot the numbers.).
But I'm mostly happy about the 15C.
