For the last year, I was frequently simply deleting automatic emails about the city water bills (they come bimonthly, and the automatic pay is set up). But last evening something prompted me to look in the PDF bill that just came.
Woah!! Mamma mia!

In the morning, found the meter (never knew where it was) and read it.
...The reading is actually 5105. Will file a correction on Monday; that's easy.
That's why teaching math in schools is ultimately important. ;-)

Yikes! What a spike!
Remember, when the police/sheriff/FBI/DEA shows up to investigate your possible grow house, refuse entry without a warrant, but direct them to re-read the meter.

To share... We received a letter from the Barbados Water Authority saying they forgot to bill us for a month of service three years ago, and we now have to pay this. Worth something like $24 BDS.

Meanwhile they have ignored repeated notices of broken pipes. I mentioned the breaks to the "meter man" and he said "that's someone else's problem; I just read meters, report it to head office....

That is good advice.

Thesis defense is Monday!

Congrats to you and best wishes for a successful defense for your son!
But why did he choose Control Theory over Kaos Theory?

I find myself suddenly enthralled with gardening. Well, weeding to be more exact...

We imported much top-soil for our lawns and gardens, but with it came many weeds...

Killing weeds is challenging, and fun (and possibly involves chemicals and physical work)!

P.S. For those already working in this domain, we managed to get a bit of top-soil with "nut grass" in it. Can you say "fun"?

Just getting to that level is remarkable.

I was going to quip similarly, but ya beat me to it. Or as the saying (and the associated 'small distance' gesture using thumb and hopefully-non-null-pointer-finger) goes, "missed it by that much."

(I'm mentally picturing the ever-hilarious-on-that-show Bernie Kopell - whose comedic talents were later criminally underused as the doctor on the mega-mediocre The Love Boat - doing one of his signature rants: "Starker, you shtuppid! Zis is Kaos - ve do not do ze double-quippage!!)

William, congrats to both the proud Pater et Filii (and the proud mum, of course, assuming that applies).

125 / 250

Today I passed 250,000 GhzDays lifetime.....
And 125,000 YTD

Of course that was in a big part because of the GPU I got just over 5 months ago which single handed has over 78,000 so far.
