Congrats! I know giving up the crackberry can be hard.
I do sometimes miss the physical keyboard (I thought the Palm Pre had the best implementation of this in a phone), but with Swype Android phones make the screen keyboard bearable. (iOS products suck so much at keyboarding that I can't understand even the fan-boys not admitting it. And the autocorrect on Android is lightyears ahead of the iOS versions which are the stuff many memes are made of.) Not a perfect solution but the added screen space has won me over. (I currently have a Motorola Droid Maxx, which has a battery that lasts 2 days between charges, it isn't top notch at any other part of smart phoning, but just the knowledge that I can go to work and forget my charging cable is worth it.) |
... Motorola Droid Maxx, which has a battery that lasts 2 days between charges ...
It is such a sad state of affairs when people boast about two days of battery life. My Nokia 1210 last two weeks and doesn't break at the first glimpse of a concrete floor from more than 10cm.

I got my first-ever hole-in-one yesterday. 170 yards.
You might say that I had better chances because it's a par-3 course but I might tell you to, well, attempt to procreate with yourself. |

Not such a sad state of affairs as you make it out to be considering the 7 times the screen, better resolution, faster chip, more memory, better functions and the nokia only lasts longer in standby, in actual screen time my Maxx beats it by almost double. My Ford Focus gets 37 mpg, but if I want to move stuff my 20 year old Ford Ranger does a heck of a lot better job at only 21 mpg. apples and oranges. I'll take even my previous phone (the galaxy s2) with its pitiful 18 hour battery life over your Nokia any day. :) Edit: And congrats to TheMawn. I gave up playing golf 20 years ago. I once chipped in a shot from about 140 yds. It was a glorious day, much beer was consumed. Later that summer I threw that 4 iron into a lake in frustration. Ain't nobody got time for that. |

Yeah I was +2 on the next one. Golf is one weird pass time. For now, I am patient enough with the bad shots that the good ones keep me coming back. |

Completed my first organized RUN
Yes I did say run .... what was I thinking. I've never run for distance in my entire life until recently....and that is over 56 years of life.
I just completed the Manitoba Marathon 4.2 Km Run (0.1 Marathons) in a very modest time of 31:33. Any more impressive my son completed his first FULL marathon today in under 4 hours. |
Good for you! Congrats!
I recently hiked to the second highest peak in San Diego county (the 1st highest is 10 meters higher). Interestingly, the highest points east of Mississippi are only 52 meters higher (they barely break 2km; Mount Mitchell and Craig, been to them, long ago). 23 more peaks to bag and I can join the 100 peaks section*. ;-) Woohoo! *
one needs 25 to join
|
For the first time ever, I broke 90 at golf today. Shot an 84.
While an unimpressive achievement for many, for an aging non-athletic geek like me, it was a long-awaited milestone. |
Two years after the DOJ shut down Full Tilt Poker to save my soul from eternal damnation, I got my $1000 back (the scum that ran Full Tilt stole player's funds, PokerStars bought the ailing company agreeing to make player's whole).

Was this on a course you play regularly? At the other end of the age spectrum: Lucy Li, 11, has 78 at Women's Open This was on the same course the men played a week ago -- but obviously a yardage-shortened version thereof. Sounds like she played quite solidly, except for obvious rookie blunders on a handful of holes. |
