grid early draft

Choice of application depend on software, hardware, computation type, and exponent. I've intentionally left off ECM since it has long been a nonfactor in advancing the GIMPS wavefronts relevant to finding the next prime or insuring none were missed.
Wow, did this thread get hijacked quick, from best practices to layout. |

Technical question: What is the difference between Horse hockey and Bull pucky? The preferred fodder, quality of the meat, what?
Horse hockey is a sport using a frozen organic fertilizer puck produced by a horse. Bull pucky is organic fertilizer produced by a male bovine. Yes I looked them up online. I think I'll leave them out of the reference threads glossary. |
Hardware 1 Hardware 2 Hardware 3 Primality google Here None TF GPUOwl [STRIKE]None[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]None[/STRIKE]

Even looking at the quoted text in the reply editor, I was left with the question how did you do that. I assumed it has something to do with the link icon, so a bit of experimenting leads to this: enter display text, highlight it, clink link icon, paste in URL in the little popup, and you get something like reference threads which hides the link even in the edit window. So to check the link is right later, it must be taken. |
In general, what would constitute best practices for GIMPS effort? My draft proposal:
17. Be vigilant and relentless about controlling error rate. Use PRP with GEC whenever it fits the work. Take corrective measures as required to force mean GEC indicated error rate below 1 error detected and corrected/gpu or cpu worker/month. (what's the right number here?)
18. What else? |
18. What else?
Have fun?
