switching to doublechecking

I have checked in my last results so far. I am now moving to doublechecking. I might return some time later, when I get a SSE2 enabled machine for example. I will continue to record progress every week and produce a graph of it.

You shouldn´t return to Trial Factoring (LMH) with a SSE2 enabled machine. :huh: They are better for LL and Doublechecking. If you currently don´t have one, then it´s the right moment to be in LMH, and move to DC when you get one.

Ah, yeah, you're right. I would like to see the range 14,000,000-16,000,000 brought to 65 bits. I don't have a pc available that can do that efficiently. So I wait until I get one. Or someone else does do it.
I have 24 pc's now, all are gifts from companies, ususally Pentium II's. Most run Linux, all sorts of distributions.

How many rooms/desks/etc do you have for these and do you keep them all connected to the internet permanently over a lan or something?

I stacked them up against a wall in a bedroom, including the 24 15" monitors. Actually they belong to my scout group. I sollicited the machines on their behalf, and it is amazing what we were given. We also have a stack of the best scanners and the university gave us a secondhand laserprinter that still performs like the first day of use. We even have some RAID cabinets. Funny, all companies gave us Compaq equipment. It is rock solid.

OK, then YOU are right :surrender :wink: ... 65 bits makes sense for SSE2. And it´s a lot of work.

The 64 bit range is from 13380000-17850000. There are currently 179 exponents that are factored to 64 bits. I brought most of them up from 60 or 62 to 64 bits on a P2. I did not find a single factor. My guess is that the range was actually completed to 65 bits but the person who did it did not report it. In any case, it's probably optimal to do a P-1 on these first.
Let me see if I can do some of it. I'll report progress in this thread.

Ok. 15 of the 179 exponents at 64 bits did not have any P-1 done on them. I'm going ahead and doing a P-1 on them. These exponents range from 13453547 to 16M and are not currently assigned, nor are near the Marin's Mersennaries range. Will report back once they are done.
