Evga selling refurd GTX Titan Z for $10 (NOT!)
I don't think this violates any mersenneforum policy but I apologize if so.
I just saw a 'buy-it-now' auction on Ebay for a refurbed GTX Titan Z for $10 and $5 shipping. The seller is EVGA. They say they have many to sell. They offer 30 day returns. It has a 1 year warranty. The GTX Titan Z is a Kepler card with 2 Titan GPUs on it that are slightly de-tuned so they don't consume too much power. Since they are GK110 Titan chips, they have gobss of FP64 performance, just like the Titan. Mersenne.ca rates it very high on LL performance. But ..... Is this too good to be true? The auction says something about missing screws. The board sucks LOTS of power and also gets very hot. It occupies 3 slots. It is Cuda 3.5 In case you're interested, it is auction # 264042833078 Caveat emptor |

AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH My apologies. As Emily Lietella used to say on SNL, "Never Mind" |
Why are people always complaining about too much sax and violins on TV? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZLeaSWY37I
http://weknowmemes.com/2011/12/too-much-sax-and-violins/ I've seen it happen that someone compromises a seller's eBay account and posts items for sale in a way that the seller gets the grief, buyer gets the shaft, dishonest third party gets the money. It's right to be skeptical of "too good to be true" pricing, anywhere.
Caveat emptor
Indeed.
Is this too good to be true?
Yes, apparently. But I like your enthusiasm and optimism and willingness to share good news if you find it. |

OK, but is that a good price for a cooler? :) More seriously, I do expect a lot of GPU bargains to be had out there as result of last year's cryptocurrency bust. If e.g. nVidia stock is on half-off sale relative to its height-of-the-crypto-hype high, one should expect their gear of similar vintage to be discounted at least as much, hopefully more. |
Ethereum is talking about changing algorithms to ProgPoW soon, which favours NVidia cards quite a bit. Coupled with the AMD cards' less energy efficiency and low crypto prices, I bet we'll see a lot of AMD cards on the used market soon.
