It has been noted by the mods. They are coming from a particular geographic location.

Yes. I have a few dead forums from years back and there's always 100-200 bots roaming around.

One thing this forum administration seems to have done particularly well is that so few spammers actually manage to register accounts here. That would cause a lot more headaches for moderators and administrators, because even if their spam postings don't make it onto the board due to the requirement of posting approval, that approval (or rather disapproval) still costs time.

I'm wondering what "Captcha" techniques are so effective here. I remember there is that question "what is 2^32-1?" (or something along those lines). I know from bitter experience that spambots get around the standard Captchas quite easily to get their accounts registered.
