Intel 7820X prices

Am I wrong or the prices of such CPU nearly doubled in one year, rising from $532 to $919?

Are they going to rise even more (I have to buy one as soon as I can) or some new CPU will soon be released, making the prices go down (I will wait till Christmas)?

Intel is currently having supply issue (aka shortages) on their 14nm CPUs, this includes mainstream and HEDT desktop using both LGA 1151 and LGA 2066 socket. The only CPU there are not having shortage are their LGA 3647 socket as they are prioritizing on their high margin products. So expect prices to rise more overtime

I think it is more complicated than just the general shortage. The next gen HEDT CPUs are rumoured to be announced in the not too distant future. It is likely that no current gen have been produced for a while, and it is normal for the price to go up as the last of the older gen sell out.

intel is a terrible value proposition right now, why are you looking at this processor?

Because it's what George is developing on

Are there other chances to get 8 (or more) cores with AVX512 at that price?

intel are the only ones with AVX512 so unless there are 2nd hand AVX512 chips available I think that's your choice. If testing AVX512 is a dealbreaker that's that, otherwise equivalent spec Ryzen parts (depending on the metric you use that'd be one of 1950X, 2950X, 1700, 2700) are better bang for buck when measured by PRP performance (saturating the memory) or general usage (many more cores not much lower clocked). 7820X pricing is nuts even for the AVX512 niche.

7820X sold out in Netherlands

The 7820X is pretty much sold out in Dutch webshops:

I will send you the money if you get one of those at that price! :w00t::w00t::w00t:

...just kidding... somewhat...

My memory is getting worse. The next gen HEDT CPUs were announced almost two weeks ago.

9800X replaces the 7820X in the 8 core spot, at similar nominal price, and you get more cache and PCIe lanes too. Let's see how street pricing goes. Haven't seen it listed anywhere yet, but not really looked either.
