Checking all possibilities of setting either 5 "L"s or 5 "J"s in the box I find exactly eight common shapes. All these shapes have a "great" hole inside (three adjacent places).
The computing times are negligible.
Has one of you the same problem?

Is the size of the box fixed?

I thought so, but now I believe, that the size is not fixed.
It's no problem to find solutions in bigger boxes.

I believe a box is irrelevant.

It simply says:
...find an asymmetrical shape without holes that can be constructed both from five "L"s and from five "J"s.
However I'm not sure what "translated" means.
There are two L-shaped one-sided tetrominoes - tetrominoes that can be translated and rotated but not flipped:
Via google:

MATHEMATICS
movement of a body from one point of space to another such that every point of the body moves in the same direction and over the same distance, without any rotation, reflection, or change in size.

1) For using "brute force" I need a box in order to have limits of the variables. Apart from that the box is irrelevant.

2) "Translate and rotate but not flip" can be defined with a simple comment, too:

The tetromino may be moved just like in TETRIS.

I think a little colour is easier on the perception.
