I've emailed James H.

Looks like it's back.

Edit: whoops. maybe a transient. Doh! Not back.

:davieddy:  :richd:

And it should be working now.

De Wandelaar 2020-07-25 19:00

Yes ! Working now :tu:

I'm updating some data tables related to PM1 that will take long time to finish (ETA 7 days right now) so there may be some missing data (e.g. on bad-bounds PM1 page) or other minor odd behavior for the next little while, but it's expected. If you see actual error messages or pages not loading let me know.

James Heinrich 2020-08-13 21:44

PM1 updates should be finished within the hour and data should be rebuilt and back to normal by tomorrow.

As an unrelated heads-up: my data centre is doing some maintenance next week and have advised my server will be offline and unplugged for a couple hours on Aug 19:
The move will start on 08/19/2020 at 05:00 AM CDT and last until 08/19/2020 at 07:00 AM CDT.
During this time, your server is usually offline for a maximum of 2 hours.
The submission queue seems to be running a bit slow. Some pages (like the exponent pages) take a long time to load, or after a long wait, come up with the "Internal Server Error" page. After that 500 error, a reload will bring up that page quite fast, though. Also, the visualization tool is running on old data, "Displayed data as of 2020-08-12T23:59:59+00:00".

Anything related to that PM1 update, or a separate problem?

James Heinrich 2020-08-15 20:59
Anything related to that PM1 update, or a separate problem?
Yes, it is somewhat related, and I'm working on a fix, will probably take the rest of the day to implement however. Thank you for your patience.

You can see the above service window, with the additional "recommended shutdown by 4:00am CDT". So I scheduled the server shutdown at 3:55am... and they unplugged it at 3:11am. I guess somebody is confused about time zones...

I doubt it had any ill effects, but let me know if something is broken.

Not sure if related: the submission queue is moving at a veeery looow speed it seems.

James Heinrich 2020-08-20 15:03
Not sure if related: the submission queue is moving at a veeery looow speed it seems.
That is related to the previous P-1 stuff I mentioned (not the data center downtime). I'm aware of it, and working on it.

In short: code that takes 0.7s to run on my home system takes 17 seconds to run on the server. Granted the server CPU isn't particularly powerful, but there's not usually that significant a discrepancy. I'm trying to isolate the specific cause of the slowdown and fix it.
