Unsticky

Could we get a lot of the threads in the Primenet forum "unstickied"? So many of them are marked sticky that you have to scroll down to see the first new thread.

I asked about that once and was told to not look in the Cunningham Tables forum.

Consequently it took me a few moments to understand your comment!

+1. I am with Chuck.
Too many sticky threads in some forums, the Gerbils got lazy in the last months...

No, we put in a lot of time monitoring the forum, and changes that everyone agrees on usually get implemented rapidly.

The sticky threads under Primenet form a "roll of honour" of recent achievements.
If a few more people read them, there would be less clamour for instant gratification regarding the latest Mersenne prime.

Anyone with non-controversial suggestions for threads that shoud/should not be "sticky" can post them here.

Well, I voiced my opinion... but of course you know better.

I didn't mean it like that!
(I just felt it was a little unfair getting called lazy.)

I agree that too many sticky threads can sometimes build up and get in the way and welcome this thread as a place to bring up such situations.

Yeah -- no need for any of them to be sticky. Just the most recent one and "server problem threads" ought to be sufficient. If need be, create a master sticky, and link to the older ones. Just taking up valuable screen real estate without providing any real value.

No offense taken. I don't know (but I imagine) how much effort is needed to keep the forums clean of spammers, bots, adds, idiots, etc. We all respect you (and other guys) for that. That is not an easy job. Besides, you personally got a lot of value in our eyes since you did that hell of a work with the "numb theory" thread. The jokes about gerbils are more like running jokes between me and Mike. I didn't mean you, or any supermod (in that cases I would usually say mods, gods, powers-to-be, etc.) Sorry if my comment could be interpreted otherwise. All cool here.

edit: We anyhow, in this part of the pool, read all posts in order they are posted, in all threads.

Agreed.
