Does one of you know what are the first 12 (and last 12) decimal digits of the new prime?
Press release has the entire number as a zip file. |
This was fun :)
True confession time though... to help deflect any suspicion on this exponent, I created a bogus assignment for it, even going so far as to backdate it to a time before it was actually found to be prime, and updating it sometimes to make it look like it was in progress.
That will almost work. |

It has been on the front page https://www.mersenne.org/ since the announcement. /JeppeSN |

The decimal expansion isn't on the homepage though... that would break the site. LOL Meanwhile, I'm monitoring the Google Analytics on the website and it's really getting lots of clicks now, primarily (pun intended) on the press release page, but also folks looking at the download and home pages. Good stuff...referrals coming from sites like Hacker News, Reddit, etc. Should pick up as the news gets more widespread and other sites link it. |

Congrats!
Congratulations everyone! Only one problem - on https://www.mersenne.org/primes/ the perfect number links fail after the 31st mersenne. Could this perhaps be rectified? I'd love to see the biggest found perfect number too! :P
Edit: Oh! All the primes are now text files which do not have to be downloaded. I guess someone is still making these changes as we *speak*. |
TF 72 – 74
Hooray! I see from the history that I did trial factoring on this new prime from 72 to 74.

George had initially inquired about making the decimal expansions in TXT format so I worked that up but as you would expect, loading HUGE txt files is a terrible user experience. It's a browser thing. I'll set that back to the old behavior where it uses ZIP files after a certain point. |
