[QUOTE=ATH;476053]Alas, no twin prime, not surprisingly though:

2^7xxxxxxx-3 is not prime. RES64: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. Wg8: F9C5D09F,00000000[/QUOTE]

Is the exponent itself a Twin Prime?

For instance M[SUB]3[/SUB] & M[SUB]4[/SUB]

and M[SUB]7[/SUB] & M[SUB]8[/SUB] have exponents that are twin primes.

If the exponent is of the form p mod 6 =1 then the other exponent has to be p-2
If the exponent is of the form p mod 6 =5 then the other exponent has to be p+2

The chance was between 1/600 and 1/7000 . So it does NOT surprise me.

Oh dear, poor Calvin getting sexually harassed in broad daylight in the school hallway by his aggressively catty homeroom teacher "Miss Ticial" - what is the world coming to?

It cracked me up. Someone was truly inspired.

If you care to recommend email addresses of press contacts that specialize in science / tech / math news, then please email them to me. I'll send them a press release. DO NOT POST EMAIL ADDRESSES in this forum and subject the poor blokes to more spam.

IMHO a press release to AP will guarantee that all news organizations will get notified.

Just in case here is contained their Press-Release email:

[url]https://www.ap.org/media-center[/url]

I would also use a contact-form submission with a captcha as a more reliable means of communication.
Or even better a phone conversation.

It’s time to announce M50 and M51

M51 is already discovered and I will announce M50 and M51 together tomorrow GMT 08:00, Jan 04.

FYI: M51 is bigger than M50. The exponent of M51 is a Twin Prime (again). The number of decimal digits is > 32 million.

All times are UTC. The time now is 22:25.
