I heard an amusing report on Neocon Public Radio.....
ROFL! Amazingly, this my first encounter with that particular explication of 'NPR.' Good one! Very apt.
NPR and its sister, PBS have many alternate names. These often involve the words 'petroleum,' 'propaganda,' and for PBS, words which invoke insects or oceans, etc. Other 'p' words I would consider are 'pusillanimous,' pathetic, and poodler.' (No insult to actual poodle dogs intended. Standard poodles radiate bouncy energy. They can also be very tall, with long legs for their size. Proper keeping of such a dog would require a very large yard, at a minimum, to give it running room. I don't anticipate having the requisite accommodations in this lifetime. Sigh.) |
Another link on the same hypocrisy kladner featured above:

They were attacked by their neighbors, and won the war. The territory is theirs by right of conquest. They're simply not bothering with the legal niceties of signing a treaty formalizing the takeover (not that Syria would ever agree to cede the Golan Heights, of course). It's just a matter of crude style! It's not their fault their enemies refuse to admit they lost the war they started! ;-) It's sobering to think that history might have taken a very different course, but for one Yigal Amir... |
Julian Assange: Wikileaks co-founder arrested in London
<snip>
Dressed in a black suit and black polo shirt, he waved to the public gallery and gave a thumbs up. He pleaded not guilty to the 2012 charge of failing to surrender to the court. Finding him guilty of that charge, District Judge Michael Snow said Assange's behaviour was "the behaviour of a narcissist who cannot get beyond his own selfish interest". He sent him to Southwark Crown Court for sentencing, where he faces up to 12 months in prison. <snip> The Wikileaks co-founder had been in the Ecuadorian embassy in London since 2012, after seeking asylum there to avoid extradition to Sweden on a rape allegation. The investigation into the alleged rape, which he denied, was later dropped because he had evaded the arrest warrant. The Swedish Prosecution Authority has said it is now considering whether to resume the inquiry before the statute of limitations runs out in August 2020. <snip> The indictment against Assange, issued last year in the state of Virginia, alleges that he conspired in 2010 with Manning to access classified information on Department of Defense computers. He faces up to five years in jail.
|
Julian Assange: Wikileaks co-founder arrested in London
All of this very expensive farce could have been avoided years ago by a simple declaration by the Swedish government that Assange would not be extradited to the US.
I see ewmayer is ranting his delusional beliefs about what I think. The idea did occur to me that perhaps Maduro called in the Russians because he was getting nervous about his own military's loyalty.
So, you don't like Brazil's prez. Neither do I. Like him or not, though, he's still Brazil's prez. He met with CIA director Gina Haspel during his recent visit to the USA. So I think it's entirely possible that he and the Admin were discussing military, ah, options WRT Venezuela.
"Ranting"? Souds like a bit of projection there from someone whose posts come off as more than a bit spittle-flecked. But back to the subject - so "like him or not" applies in Brazil but not Venezuela? Why the double standard? And him meeting with torturin' Gina makes him sound rather CIA-assetish, whence my usage of "installed". Not that the good ole USofA would ever meddle in a foreign election or anything, right?
BTW, I heard an amusing report on Neocon Public Radio the other day.
Ah, I was wondering where you were getting your fake news now that Rachel Maddow has flamed out - NPR fits, you are quite clearly a neocon despite your frequent loud protestations to the contrary. I hear high levels of cognitive dissonance are bad for one's health, so please, stop fighting it, embrace it! |

Meanwhile, it seems a few US poodles are having second thoughts about their earlier tail-wagging recognition of Greedo - we may just have to threaten the Krauts with the same "democratization" treatment we're applying to VZ to get them back in line.
Kraut here ;-) Deutsche Bank, VW, Bayer, Iran, Venezuela, ... Threatening was yesterday, punishing is the present/future. You're on a good way. |
But back to the subject - so "like him or not" applies in Brazil but not Venezuela?
Sez you. Sez the Admin (Il Duce & Co.). But, not me. If you'd bother reading what I actually wrote, you would know I've said more than once, deposing "Saint" Nicholas Maduro is up to the Venezuelan military, not the good ol' USA. If you look back, for example, at my post here, you will see an obscure cultural reference -- a personal favorite of mine -- to the good ol' USA and regime change. Just because I opine what the Admin is likely to do doesn't mean I agree with it. I don't see any good guys here, and that's a shame for the Venezuelan people.
Why the double standard?
You'll have to ask the Admin. But the obvious answer is, the Admin sees the Brazilian government as favoring US interests, the Venezuelans as being opposed. I'm sure your masters in Moscow  operate the same way. As the saying goes, nations do not have friends. Nations have interests.
And him meeting with torturin' Gina makes him sound rather CIA-assetish, whence my usage of "installed".
So, you're saying he was "installed" because he met with the head of the CIA after he took office. So, in your world, effects precede their causes. I suppose you'll be saying next that Kim Jong-Un was "installed" because he met -- in secret -- with (then) CIA director Mike Pompeo. |

The tree of liberty must be watered now and again with the blood of patriots, including the unwilling ones! We had to destroy the village in order to save it, &c. |
Doc, why do you feel compelled to add the honorific "saint" any time you mention the president of Venezuela? Aren't concerted ad hominem attacks rather poor form?
Doc, why do you feel compelled to add the honorific "saint" any time you mention the president of Venezuela? Aren't concerted ad hominem attacks rather poor form?
Objection! Already asked and answered. I said here,
I was trying, however feebly, to live up to my moniker. In point of fact, I do not consider Mr. Maduro to be saintly. I also thought the similarity to the name Saint Nicholas, the dispenser of free gifts, might be apropos. [Also, AFAIK, except in the figurative laudatory usage ("you're a saint," or "living saint"), saints all share the property of being dead, so Mr. Maduro does not qualify.]
I marvel at your extreme sensitivity to my little jest. |
On l'affaire Assange - the CIA ties of one of the Swedish bizarro-sex-crime (Assange allegedly deliberately split the condom with his fingers during sex, without leaving any trace of DNA on it - a nifty trick, that) accusers are interesting:
