Help test 2995125705 - Find a new top 5000 prime!
It's now time to help find some primes for another 15k!
We would like to gather more information on this 15k, so we would like to continue testing it to n=1,000,000. We now have llr .txt test files ready to go to help search for k=2995125705 primes! (This part of our project is the same idea as 321 search) How to help search for primes: 1. If you don't have LLR.exe, download llr.zip here! 2. Download one of the available test files below (Right-click link, and select "Save Target As") Save the file in the same folder as LLR.exe FYI- The files in the 290,000 to 300,000 range take about 3 days to complete on a 2.2GHz P4. Post to this thread that you have downloaded a test range. 3. Open LLR, and select the "Test" menu, then "Input Data" In the "Input File (From NewPGEN):" box enter the file from step 2 (IE - 300to305.txt) In the "Output file:" box, enter prime.txt Click "OK" (If the LLR icon doesn't turn from "Red" to "Green" repeat step 3, and it will start the 2nd time you hit "OK") 3.5 If you see a number show up in the prime.txt file, you have found a new prime that will qualify for the top 5000 prime list! If you don't have a 15k top 5000 prime list prover code, I'll help you set one up so you will receive credit for the new prime! 4. When the test is complete, please mail the lresults.txt file renamed (see below) and zipped to Kosmaj, or post the renamed txt file to this thread. Renaming convention: if you worked on the 300to305.txt file then please rename lresults.txt into lresults300to305.txt. If you have any questions e-mail me and I'll try to answer your question. Time : 452.064 sec.   If proved that would be my very first discovered prime number  But first I would need some help to setup a prover program (as mentionned at the start of this thread) :help: , have just emailed SlashDude about this... (My machine is a P4 WinXp, could install Cygwin if required) |
Just realized the "prover code" is in fact a reference on Chris Caldwell website, not a program
Will try to setup one right now  |

Congrats indeed! I hope you find many more! I just asked Slash Dude to provide more ranges. BTW, I wonder where is simon-b  he has three 5-k ranges reserved but I haven't heard from him in quite a while. Happy hunting to everybody! |
Thanks ET & Kosmaj :)
About simon-b's ranges, I could process them if you make them available to me. After all my first range here was to eliminate the "hole" left by the unfortunate Keller's HD failure... |
About simon-b's ranges, I could process them if you make them available to me.
That will be greatly appreciated, but let's wait a bit more to see where is simon-b and what's the status of his search so that efforts are not doubled. I also asked Slash Dude to provide more ranges to keep you busy! |
Hi Kosmaj,
Any news about your latest post ? |
segmtfault
First of all congrats on your huge prime for k=3   I'm sorry but I have no news. Slash Dude disappeared, went to vacation or something like that, he hasn't replied yet to my mail to his e-mail address and over the forum. I wrote to simon-b too, over the forum only and got no reply. I just got his e-mail address from the forum's admin and will mail him again. Maybe some files are still on the 15k.org server but I don't know the path. Joss, if you read this please mail me URL's of 299 files. Thanks! Finally, if you badly want to find another prime with a relatively small n you can reserve one k, for example k=37 from n=210000 on, but you will have to sieve first. |
I just made 2 ranges available this morning,
from an old file that was only sieved to 300Bn. I was unable to find the ksieve file Mark was working on. There should only be a few extra. Happy testing Joss |
Thanks Kosmaj and Jocelynl !

Congrats on your latest prime!
2995125705*2^377098-1, 113528 digits Please note that I cancelled one range reserved by simon-b, if you wish you can work on it next. I wrote simon-b two times, once to his private e-mail address but got no response. I suspect he is a student on his summer vacation, that's why I keep his other two ranges still reserved. But if he doesn't appear soon I'll cancel these two as well. BTW, does anybody know where is Slash Dude?? Haven't heard from him in more than a month. He is in possession of sieving results for k=2995125705 up to 1M, if he doesn't appear soon we'll have nothing to work on. |
Thanks
I will work on the cancelled range as soon as the 375-380 one is finished. |
The LLRP4 3.1 new version was released just before the end of the 375-380 test so I reran all the test range as a double check (no new missing primes found  ).
I then completed the 355-360 range, no primes found. I am currently working on 380-385. |
segmtfault
Thanks for all the hard work! Good to hear that LLR4 bug didn't affect your range. I updated the table on page 1 and cancelled one more range assigned to simon-b who never answered my messages. |

Thanks for all the hard work. I just updated the table. At about the same time I checked the 340-345k range and found no primes.
Finally we closed all the gaps and k=2995125705 is now continuously checked to 385k. |
I'll be taking 385 to 390 through the LLR program.

I am back and taking 390 to 395 :)

All right, I just updated the table. Good luck to both of you!
I also added 4 more ranges. Please let me know if after 420k you prefer smaller chunks, 3 or 4k long, instead of 5k now. A 5k chunk contains about 800 candidates, so 3k will be about 480 and 4k will be about 640. |
I'd like to reserve 400-405.
thanks, Larry |

Hello guys,
I updated the list of ranges and also: 1) Added ranges to 500k in 4k chunks. 2) Changed the e-mail to send results. Please be sure to send lresults.txt file (renamed and zipped) to me. If you worked on the 300to305.txt file then please rename lresults.txt into lresults300to305.txt. You can send results of several chunks at once, zipped. 3) Reserved 448-452 by myself. Happy hunting! :geek: |

Hello guys,
As you can see we are quickly approaching the 500k milestone, thanks mostly to many boxen provided by lsoule  It will be nice if we hit one more prime before 500k. BTW, I slightly changed the top post of the thread, removing the first list of ranges redundant to the "Status" list and moving available ranges to the bottom of the post. Now one can check the status and ranges at the same time and it's also easier to edit the post  If you have any comments and/or wishes (excluding primes themselves!) please post them here. |
