Have you run memtest86+?
It survived a couple of hours of memtest86. I am currently trying -20mv as most readings I have seen on the web seem to have a lower voltage for a 6700k at 4Ghz than 1.28v(before avx boost). It has lasted a good while although the ambient temperature is a couple of degrees lower currently. I have previously reckoned that that has a negative effect on the pc. |
Seems to be failing much quicker at +19.5mv. 10 minutes rather than an hour.
All of these failures have been zeroed residues rather than the expected value.
Maybe this is related to that user who keeps submitting false positives (or more curiously, "composite" results with a zero partial residue). Seems like Prime95 would catch a zero residue at some interim stage and say "yeah, right" rather than continue on and eventually check that in as the "result". |

4 hours of small ffts passed on -20mv. I think another line of attack is needed. Either memory voltage or system agent voltage needs to change I think.

Another 11 hours of memtest86 passed overnight. |

Is that at 3000 MHz? So you have a stable system now? BTW, do you run with case side on? |
Did you see this thread, specifically post #62:
http://www.mersenneforum.org/showthread.php?t=21485 BinaryKhaos' problem was solved with microcode update. There might be a full BIOS update release by now. XeniaRick's problem turned out to be a broken pin on the cpu. |
The i7-6700K is a 4.0 GHz SkyLake. Could this be causing some of the issues?
|
The question is which microcode version is needed. I am on version 0x84 which is later than then for asus. Whether it is late enough I don't know. I don't have time to look through the thread in that detail currently. I have just updated the bios although it is the same microcode version.
All recent test have been at 2133. Case with side on although it is the same without. It is stable apart from prime95 I think. |
Have you tested with turbo off?

Next job once I am back from interview. Assuming that it fails with the updated bios. |
