Light at the end of the tunnel, or just an oncoming train-crash?
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-50079385
The DUP aren't happy with what is proposed for Northern Ireland. The EU commisioner Junker is saying no further extensions are possible. Pressure! I say revoke Article 50. The referendum was advisory to parliament -- a ploy by David Cameron to win a General Election. If there was a referendum tomorrow on "bring back hanging" or give everyone in the UK £20,000 there would be a majority. The proletariat do not deserve a referendum vote in a representative democracy. |

How very patronising of you. |

Laws enacted by referendum here in the good ol' USA don't always stick. The referendum supposedly enacting Medicaid expansion in Utah is a case in point. |
Last Tuesday my wife received hers settled status, so all has been unpacked for now. Hope I don’t need to pack all over again after the 31st October..lol
Edit: I’m starting to “feel” like the Jews during the war when they were marked. Please don’t attack me on this, it is just how I feel but I have high consideration for all native English I met and work for/with. Just shared feeling on my situation. |
Can’t remember if next week I’ll be in Cambridge or not but on the following I will so we can meet Paul. Really need to speak with you.

I have a UK passport and a Spanish NIE. |

If it were Portugal I would help you directly through my parents nevertheless for sure I can say all my family spread out can easily be of help in case something happens and you need a place to stay or get access to the public health system and etc. |

There are many friendly people in Spain. The guy from whom I bought my house would be a strong supporter of Brexit if he were British (he told me that explicitly) and is also a strong supporter of Catalonian independence. In his own words, he describes Catalonia as being a colony of Spain and Spain as a colony of the EU. As far as I can tell there are many other Spaniards with similar views.
As for public health (a) the Spanish system is very good, easily as good as the British NHS IMO and b) both governments have already acknowledged that each of them have far too many hostages in the other's countries to cause too much mutual hostility. |
Yesterday was a funny day....suppose this is a lot better than Netflix series.

I have a little bit of skin in this game... Tiring. It's like watching a train wreck in slow-motion in real-time. Putin must giggle in his sleep over this. A few million thrown at some geeks, and chaos results. Very well played. (The "West" might be advised to ask themselves how they came to be in such a leverageable and vulnerable position...) |
