How to Use LLR
Pfgw takes too much time and if I am correct, would not be the fastest program for finding primes for the top5000 in the Prime Pages. (Well, LLR should be faster, but Pfgw can still apply the N+/-1 tests anyways.) So does anyone know how to use LLR, say for finding large million digit primes of the form k*b^n+/-1, with b and n fixed. under a week say. Or please let me know if there is another program I can use more efficient and less memory.

LLR has a readme. Read it! Unless extremely lucky, you will not find a million digit prime in a week or even a month. |

Unless extremely lucky, you will not find a million digit prime in a week or even a month.
So does this subforum. It's like people knew new users would need directions... it's even stickied, though the sticky list is lengthy so you might have to laboriously scroll down like 5 lines. I'll take the over on a month to find a megadigit, if using <20 cores. |
Trust me, I would have already looked there, but the lines are too complicated to keep scrolling down.

If you want easily to start with llr you could attach to my SRBase BOINC project. Install BOINC and choose your difficulty sub project. |

Almost everything you have posted tells me that you are lazy. |

Yes , when someone write that program ( for finding above milion digit prime number in few weeks) then, please send me copy, I would like to find a ten or more... just for fun :) Seriously ,after so many posts you ask same questions again? In meantime of you brilliant mind working, did you find prime with lets say 400.000 digits? With every new post your dig for yourself bigger hole :digging: |
say for finding large million digit primes of the form k*b^n+/-1, with b and n fixed. under a week say.
if it was that easy with just 100 people working the form it would replace the top 5000 in under a year.

sorry guys i get it. you think i am lazy but I am
"not, not, not a troll" "I am not a troll" Here is my largest known prime I ever found: (Which is not a prp): http://factordb.com/index.php?id=1100000000827275595 (correction: I just used a random prime generator, so I basically chaeated, along with this one: http://factordb.com/index.php?id=1100000000676234871) which is currently the largest prime I ever found with 5,122 digits. I never made it to Henri Lifchitz's PRP top. |

Yes, as you say you are not troll.
Troll have some trace of intelligence... You are person that perfectly can be described with five letter word starting with big I  So when you find 400.000 or more digit prime , then come back and say something... until then, please shut up, and dont waste even imaginary forum space. |

"not, not, not a troll" "I am not a troll"
I've several times refrain myself from posting, simply because I could not make a positive and productive post. Please Pawnprover44, stop doing this kind of behaviour. This is a forum for those who intent to expand our knowledge and help solve mathematical problems. This is not a random chat room, where you go into, if you have an intent to irritate or spread hate. I believe you are causing anger and frustration, but it may overall not be your intension. Also you have all the carictiristics of a Troll, even though it may be unintented. Even though you are digging yourself a bigger and bigger hole and despite the fact that I'm not a university degree, if you in a PM write me a little of your background, and what kind of intentions you have and what kind of resources you have, I'm willing to offer you the necessary guidance. This project isn't hard to run, but it is very easy to ruin the work that a small group of people has spend thousands of CPU years to produce. Now, if you want my help, go and start reading the Join us thread and whatever is unclear then, please reach out and let me help you. Everyone can choose to be a ressource or a burden, please choose to be a ressource  Looking forward to be hearing your decision. |

Alright, then looks like I won't be part of the forum for a while then. |

"not, not, not a troll" "I am not a troll"
Our point is that you want to take big steps before you want to take little steps. My first recommendation is to either use BOINC or PRPNet to participate in a few different projects for a few days each just to get a feel for them. Maybe that is all you want to do, i.e. execute PRP tests and hope to find a prime. If you want to do more, then the first question to answer is "what kinds of primes do I want to find?". The answer to that question will guide you to what you need to do next. Some projects are tightly coordinated project (like GIMPS, PSP, SoB), some are heavily coordinated (CRUS), others are loosely coordinated project (GCW) and some have no project at all. Some of these projects are coordinated this forum and some are not. I strongly suggest you avoid those with no project because your efforts will likely be wasted until you become a guru. For the others you will have to follow rules and the more coordinated, the more rules you have to follow. By "coordinated", it is more than just someone maintaining a server or webpage, it also means that you might be required to use certain software programs and use them in ways proscribed by the project. |

"not, not, not a troll" "I am not a troll" Here is my largest known prime I ever found: (Which is not a prp): http://factordb.com/index.php?id=1100000000827275595
It is a PRP though. So again you are presenting something as truth which is not. No amount of chanting "not, not, not a troll" will change that in your present form you actually are a troll. You have not proven that PRP -- for that you need to prove the prp2538 which is still a PRP at this moment. Maybe someone will prove it later, but the date will be later than April 14th. FactorDB has some bugs in it. The fact that it shows something as "P" is like the proverbial joke "If you see a 'buffalo' sign on an elephant's cage, do not trust your eyes." (K.Prutkov) |
