It looks like the double check was assigned back in July, expired in October, and was finished in December. Strange, but I don't think this is the magic number.

I highly doubt that's the number. Keep in mind that George said the prime was discovered month[U]s[/U] ago. The first result for that number is only six weeks old.

Take comfort - the one and only time it makes any sense whatsoever to buy into such a lottery is after a long run of previous people having thrown away their money to bid up the jackpot.

(Not sure if similar logic applies to burning cycles on looking for M-primes, I'll let the stats wonks address that. :)
