I once took an IQ test and scored a 2,
because they divided by 100 instead of multiplying.
at least make it believable and say 0.02 no way your iq is 20,000 hate to break it to you.
I wanted the joke to be unbelievable, and am glad you saw through it so easily.
Interesting! That's the first time I've seen an IQ test where every question is at least a bit challenging.
I agree. I'm going to print it out and try and solve some them all.
AFFDXVXAAAGXXDF
XXFGGAFAGGXFG
AAXAAXXFXXFFFGG
AFXGGVGGAFFAAFG
VGGAXFXGXXFFAAF
XDFFFAVFDXFDDXF
looks to me very much like the German WW1 ADFGVX cipher. Standard techniques are well known and I'm sure it wouldn't take Jim Gillogly more than an hour or two.

I'd have a go but currently totally brainless with flu.

Good guess I think, but on the other hand, many people may have tried that before?
(not me, I am proud I found that source xD)

The Guardian article omitted 2 letters in the code...

The correct version from http://de.scribd.com/doc/109559436/Haselbauer-Dickheiser-IQ-Test#scribd is
AFFDXVXAAAGXXDF
XXFGGAFAFAGGXFG
AAXAAXXFXXFFFGG
AFXGGVGGAFFAAFG
VGGAXFXGXXFFAAF
XDFFFAVFDXFDDXF
Ha! half of my white hair comes from that problem. (edit, which is the only one in the test which was never solved, so only the authors knows the answer).

[Edit 2: for some reason, I remember that in the original papers of the test, the letters were grouped 3 by 3. I have looked on scribd and on the web and it seems that this grouping is lost in time, but I spent so much time on this problem that I am almost sure that there were grouped like this:
AFF DXV XAA AGX XDF
XXF GGA FAF AGG XFG
AAX AAX XFX XFF FGG

AFX GGV GGA FFA AFG
VGG AXF XGX XFF AAF
XDF FFA VFD XFD DXF
(copy paste from above post, re-format)

Also, I somehow remember that the first letter always was in A-D, the second was always a F-H and the third always X-Y (so, 4, 3, 2) and I tried to make proportions of the position of these letters in the alphabet. Now, that was 10-12 years ago, so I may be totally wrong, but the 6 strings of letters, all together like presented on scribd, do not make much sense to me, and they don't remind me of anything. I will look for the original papers, I have them somewhere...

end of edit 2]

And the other half of the white hair I have is from those freaking furbles...
(see my post #10 in this thread).

(anyone solved Has/Dick #2? If you solved it by yourself, without external help and hints, just tell me how did you like it? Don't say the answer, just if you liked it or not. As I said, it is one of the best puzzles I ever solved, and I was so excited when I solved it, hehe)

I solved the UNSOLVED QUESTION. Except the authors I know the answer too.
