Ha! half of my white hair comes from that problem. (edit, which is the only one in the test which was never solved, so only the authors knows the answer).

[Edit 2: for some reason, I remember that in the original papers of the test, the letters were grouped 3 by 3. I have looked on scribd and on the web and it seems that this grouping is lost in time, but I spent so much time on this problem that I am almost sure that there were grouped like this:

Also, I somehow remember that the first letter always was in A-D, the second was always a F-H and the third always X-Y (so, 4, 3, 2) and I tried to make proportions of the position of these letters in the alphabet. Now, that was 10-12 years ago, so I may be totally wrong, but the 6 strings of letters, all together like presented on scribd, do not make much sense to me, and they don't remind me of anything. I will look for the original papers, I have them somewhere...
