Here Tishomingo owned two sections of land. These lands were allotted Tishomingo under the Treaty of Pontotoc, in 1832. Section 78 of the same treaty also made the further provision for Tishomingo: “The Chickasaws feel grateful to their old chiefs for their long and faithful services in attending to the business of the Nation. They believe it a dutty to keep them from want in their declining age. Newborn babies AREN'T beautiful
Just got my first picture of my baby niece, and I'm glad to have a new baby niece, I'll love her to death. But...as a newborn...she ain't pretty. Truth is a pretty newborn is like a hen's tooth, they're pretty damn rare.
When I was born, I wasn't pretty, either. If you told Rush Limbaugh that Hillary Clinton would make a good president while Mr. Clinton was still president, you'd basically get the visual of what I looked like as a newborn, except quite a bit uglier. Newborns tend to look like aliens or old men. Sometimes they look like that, plus really red, which I guess is a bonus. We all coo over them and say how beautiful they are and how they're God's little miracle(that last part is true, btw) but secretly, we're thinking,"Damn, I'll be glad when that kid grows up and I stop thinking his touch will heal my paper cut." (ET movie reference). Am I the only one who thinks this? |

I'm specifically talking about newborns. Toddlers and babies do tend to be cute. I believe the term newborn is based on the fact that they can't crawl, so it's basically the first few months of life. |

Very rough videography, but amazing terrain. This is a 4x4 trek up Mt Pinatubo, Philippines. The vehicles appear to be sort of 4WD dune buggies. It is worth skipping over some stretches. The narrative is tedious. Worth a look if any of the elements interest you.

For years we have been looking for the best terminal monospace "programming" font and we think we have found a winner.
You will have to zoom in to see the detail. :mike: |
Have programmers forgotten about the pinging ability?
I don't understand it.
I have about 4 different Kindle accounts I can send my bought content to when I buy stuff on my computer, but the only way I can differentiate them is to compare content. And, now I discover that I can share content on my tablet with other devices, but all I get is device names with no description. Why, WHY...don't we have the ability to ping devices to know what's what? Just a simple messaging ability, nothing fancy. Maybe just a number, start at the top of the unknown device list and go 1, 2,3,4, bambambam down the list so I can go around the house and see what's what, then maybe a weird letter combination so I know it's not a coincidence with someone else doing the same thing. I don't want tiles on my desktop or watches that can call in a new order for toilet paper, I want what I already have access to to actually work well with other stuff. It doesn't have to talk to me or give me the ability to turn it on and off from across the room, I just want it to be convenient in a way that's invisible. Am I old, is that the problem? My dad only wants a phone to make phone calls, my mom is adamant about me not enabling the Internet capability on the living room tv, and I just my Kindle to tell me which Amazon account it's connected to. |
You can name your Kindle and it appears on the top row. Would that help?
:mike: |
I suppose asking why the OP has multiple Kindle accounts would be pointless, since the whole point of the thread is attention-seeking. JasonG, forum new-thread-whoring practitioner extraordinaire.

Our Kindle account is actually owned by the feral teenager that resides with us. We figure he will outlive us so it makes more sense to buy the "books" under his account and then share them with our Kindle. (Fortunately that is a supported option!)
The whole issue of digital media "ownership" is weird. Ideally we would own a real library of books that could be sold or given away. But, we accept the weirdness because it is just so darn convenient to have hundreds of books in a device that you can read/search/whatever any time. As for starting lots of threads, that does not bother us, but we can understand it might bother others. We have toyed with the idea of a sub-forum dedicated to individual threads "owned" by members to just ramble in. We kinda do that now ourself in the (oddly named) "ho-pourri" thread. Do any of you think that would be a cool idea? :mike: |

I suggest collecting these kinds of short "a reader sounds off" threads in ho-pourri might be a good idea ... and think how it would boost your much-watched post count of that thread! |
Am I old, is that the problem?
No! 25 years ago, what software went into computers was decided by engineers because the speed and space were so restricted. Today, there is so much room that what software goes into devices is decided by competing commercial interests. |

Am I the only one who thinks this?
Well, let's just figure that short of being a deep-sea diver, the pressure exerted upon a baby during birth is likely the highest pressure that person will experience in their entire lifetime. There is a good reason for babies' bones (especially their skulls) initially being soft and pliable. You're not going to look (or feel) beautiful after that kind of trip. There are so many facets of the entire development and birth process that must go just right, that it is nothing short of a miracle that things work out with such astonishing regularity in both the human and animal kingdoms. |
Hey, the point of maximum eclipse duration is nearly exactly halfway between me and Mike, to within ~10 miles. Now there's an idea!
I would not be undisposed to meeting with forumites on my great adventure. Madpoo did a job not far from an area that I frequent, but the timing did not work out. This would not be the first time I have traveled to see an eclipse, but it would be the first total for me. I was not in a position in 1991 to visit the locations of totality (I did manage to sneak a personal day off work and get as close as I could, the next day {Friday} I came back and they told me that I would be working at a different location starting Monday.) Went to see an annular in 1994 (visited relatives and was ready to travel to other cities based upon the weather). Saw a sunrise partial in 1994, saw it rise across a large lake. Traveled with 3 family members to see a recent annular (visited Zion and Bryce at the time).
First one ever observed was from our front stoop. Projected it on to a card and traced it. Had dialed the time service on the telephone so that our times were accurate. Afterward the tracings were inked and the silhouettes were colored. Also stayed up all night to watch this one: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/July_1982_lunar_eclipse |

Something I wrote elsewhere which did not belong there.
Utter irrelevance: Count <2[SUP]3[/SUP]×3[SUP]2[/SUP]×79 Posts>, as of now. However, the previous count of <11[SUP]2[/SUP]×47 Posts> had simplicity going for it. I was struck by the symmetry of 2[SUP]3[/SUP]×3[SUP]2[/SUP]. Grrr. The superscripts got lost on the first edit. |

This is the type of thing that should dissuade Americans from voting for Trump. I usually tend to think liberals are insane, but some forms of insanity are worse than others. If Trump gets the Republican nomination, I guarantee I'll vote Democrat. |

http://www.ironbutt.com/
That's where we got the idea. We didn't "certify" the ride because the cost seemed a bit high. Plus, we don't need a certificate to tell us what we already know. :mike: |
