(Chicago, IL, USA) Cubs win. We live just over a mile South of Wrigley Field. There are some very creative car horn choruses going on, accompanied by the sound of super-high-revving engines, followed by the smell of burning rubber drifting in a third floor window over a fairly narrow residential side street.
Right now, the ground traffic has quieted and multiple helicopters are the main soundscape.
It reminds me of the first time I saw Leonard Cohen. It happened that the concert fell on Fathers' Day. It also happened that the Chicago Bulls won their third championship in a row, that night. When it became known that the Bulls had won, Cohen dryly remarked, "I want to congratulate you on your great municipal victory. Enjoy it before the next tax increase."
There were certainly wild times on the streets, that night. We were glad to quickly get a cab and get home. Ah! Relative quiet, at least for a few moments. I suspect that the traffic wave has moved out from around the stadium, and is now entertaining the Near West Side, North Shore suburbs, etc. There are still some hooters and hollerers to be heard on foot out the window behind my desk. :fusion: |

Indeed! I guess many are either home, or ensconced in bars at this point. The sound levels are pretty normal for living a block or so from a major hospital/trauma center. Not even a siren for a while. Of course, the El main line a similar distance away still rumbles past now and then. |
Heyo! That's what I get for not reading the Lounge for a couple days. (To be fair, I had much more important matters on my mind.)
I've been to see two games this year, and am in the lottery for World Series tickets (long odds of course). I didn't know you lived so close kladner! Bsquared, does this mean all two of us are now all three of us Cubs fans?! That would be awesome! |

Will have to remedy that, soon. |
3! Did you grow up in town?

Grew up in Iowa, where we have to shop around for our pro sports teams . |

Hey, dem AAA Cubbies are out there! What's that experience like? I've only ever been to Single A minor league games. |
Yeah they're fun, but of course not like the bigs. A lot more competitive than A-ball, for sure. It's been awhile since I've seen even the ICubs play.
