I hope http://www.270towin.com/ is a good estimate because based on that even if maine goes full trump if clinton took wisconsin there's only one win and 2 ties that trump can perform. The win includes winning every other state left and changing some that are partially colored in. clinton admittedly has most of her winning combinations without it though. okay he can hit 270 by not changing the partials already but just if clinton wins wisconsin.

Interesting. I wasn't aware of that site; thanks for bringing it to my attention.

I've personally been mostly using FiveThirtyEight and The New York Times' Upshot subsite; checkout the very cool "1,024 Paths to the White House" interactive section of the latter.

turns out I was looking at the 2016 competitive map ( the one it loads with) but the state of the race one is quite different still interesting to think if the competitive one is correct just two more states going to clinton and trump can suck a goose egg.

Granny had it right over 40 years ago.
Granny had it right over 40 years ago.
As did Niccolò Machiavelli.

As did Sun Tzu.

And just to put this out there, I had to jump through hoops to be able to view the references to "Granny" you provided without been tracked thanks to Facebook.

This is not meant as a criticism; simply giving the empirical experience.

May we live in informed times. []

USA Constitution...

I have read the US of A's Constitution many times, and I understand the rational for the "Two Term Limit". I have wished in the past that Canada's Constitution has a similar clause ("[cough] Harper [cough]").

But watching this interview between President Obama and Bill Maher makes me wonder if sometimes continuity wouldn't be the safer route.

Obama speaks in paragraphs.

Clinton at least speaks in coherent sentences....

The two term limit was a Republican reaction to FDR's winning four times. I think the end of WWII would have played out differently if he had not dropped dead. Truman was more easily hornswoggled by the generals and the Secretary of War, excuse me, SOD, not SOW.

However, I have been generally won over by arguments for term limits. This would be especially pertinent in the Congress. It might reduce the non-stop fund raising which currently goes on.

Yeah. Agreed.

I often wonder how the aftermath of 9-11 might have played out if Al Gore had won.

kladner 2016-11-07 05:02

Or how Reconstruction [STRIKE]would[/STRIKE] might have gone if Lincoln had not been taken out.
