And with that, I'm done opining / actively-following this year's electioneering. In other abstinence-related news, this morning I resolved to not watch even a single minute of that nationalist, commercial-exploitation-fest known as the Olympics. Got some quality DVDs and books laid in, in preparation for a 3-week siege.

So, 3% means that one in about 30 people here at my job is a psychopath... We are about 35 people here... I look careful to about 34 people around me, and I know they are all good/normal guys/girls, nice persons, no question about it... So I am starting worrying about myself...

I think you failed the psychopathy recruitment process when you released that snake into the wild instead of cooking it, using for Asian medicinal purposes or turning it into your minion.

LaurV 2016-08-17 10:03

I have to tell you that the part about "turning it into my minion" is extremely tempting, only I have no freaking idea what to do about it. I know many things about snakes and I like to catch them, but I never actually "cared" about one, like in keeping it for a pet, or so. Most probably it would need special conditions, terrarium, blah blah, lots of expenses, then what to feed to it, how to tame it? etc. It must be extremely difficult. Not mentioning that Mrs. would move me out of the house together with my minion, in the first microsecond...

Trump the tax dodger

But, the Times noted, the public records do not paint a clear picture of how the agreement was reached or whether Christie — a longtime friend and now a close adviser to Trump — was even involved.

Trump 3.0 - Now with more Trump!

In Trump's third campaign reboot/third teleprompter speech:
Trump notably made a direct pitch to black voters Thursday, promising to give attention to the inner cities and accusing the Democratic Party of pandering. He also accused Clinton of “bigotry," echoing remark he made Tuesday during a speech on law enforcement in West Bend, Wisc.

“What do you have to lose by trying something new? Watch, I will fix it. Watch. You have nothing to lose,” Trump said. “They have been playing with you for 60, 70, 80 years. Many, many decades. You have nothing to lose. I will do a great job.”

Marc Dalson, a 41-year-old father of four who lives in Dover, N.C., has closely followed Trump's campaign and said the nominee seems to have finally found a way to be scripted without losing his distinctive voice and style.

"He's dialing in," Dalson said. "The new Trump -- I think it's working, because historically he was really strong off-the-cuff. We all agree that when he got the teleprompter, he felt like he was in jail. I think now he's starting to weave it in really well to where it seems more natural."
The Objection To Being Stepped On -Robert Frost

At the end of the row
I stepped on the toe
Of an unemployed hoe.
It rose in offense
And struck me a blow
In the seat of my sense.
It wasn't to blame
But I called it a name.
And I must say it dealt
Me a blow that I felt
Like a malice prepense.
You may call me a fool,
But was there a rule
The weapon should be
Turned into a tool?
And what do we see?
The first tool I step on
Turned into a weapon.

EDIT: I have not watched the video, nor seen the movie. No offense intended. I mostly prefer reading. My comments regard the text of the post.

Mike Pense: Enemy of Public Health

https://thinkprogress.org/mike-pence-public-health-406b5d08c7de#.v9hgfgi7m
This article starts with HIV and Hep C outbreaks, coupled with a needle-sharing opioid epidemic, in small-town, poor-county Indiana. Needle exchange programs were banned, although Gov Pence made exceptions in a couple of hard-hit areas. He also made sure that a ban on State funding of such programs remained in place.
It moves on to Pence slashing Public Health budgeting, and opposing both anti-smoking programs AND a 5% increase in the cigarette tax. He also has received around $100,000 from tobacco companies during his political career.
For many of the governor’s critics, however, that’s an exceptionally rosy characterization. In their eyes, Pence’s tepid response to the HIV outbreak was not a laudable feat of moral acceptance in the face of crisis but a confirmation of a worrisome outlook on public health issues. Many believe he dragged his feet to address a dramatic crisis that could have been preventable with a stronger public health infrastructure. Others say his response to the outbreak was entirely consistent with his approach to health — one that is governed by personal belief rather than medical need, often at the expense of his constituents.

“If I were to sum up Mike Pence and his approach to any of this, it would be ideology trumping evidence every time,” said Beth Meyerson, a professor of public health at Indiana University and co-director of the Rural Center for AIDS/STD Prevention. “Under the Pence administration there has been a very clear message that public health is not a priority and any of the moral policy issues that could be at play will rule over public health evidence and population needs.”

Although Pence did temporarily lift the ban on needle exchange programs in Scott County, he made it clear that he would not support a statewide effort. “I am opposed to needle exchange as anti-drug policy,” he remarked. “But this is a public health emergency and, as governor of the state of Indiana, I’m going to put the lives of the people of Indiana first.” He also signed legislation that left in place a ban on funding for the needle exchange programs, placing the financial burden for purchasing syringes on the often rural, cash-strapped counties.

“This governor did no favor to public health beyond the signing of the law,” Meyerson added.
So what's not to like? Oh, yeah. He also signed an anti-abortion bill, against which even some home state Republican Troglodytes rebelled. Even they considered its unprecedented restrictions to be Government Overreach.
(Note the typical contradictions in RW ideology. Guv'mint wants to run our lives! (But we get to control people's matrimonial and health decisions, because......G*d .)
