Well Cruz has suspended his campaign. Now things will be interesting in the leadup to both the convention and then the general election.

Bwa ha ha … just saw on the local n00z that a day after his running mate literally fell flat on her face, Ted Cruz did so metaphorically, suspending his campaign after getting crushed by The Donald in Indiana. Anyone familiar with Fiorina’s business career could tell him that is in fact the essence of “the Carly magic”. :)

Yeah but this time she didn't sink the ship but instead took a passenger berth on the Titanic. That too went down after about five days. Wonder if she can get the deposit back on her prom dress.

P.S. You can not make this up... after conceding the race, Cruz accidentally strikes his wife twice in the face.

Advance embedded video about 1 minute to skip concession speech. He is a wrecking ball that batters people in his havoc radius. Not that he ever seems to notice.
Just today I read a suggestion for Joe Biden as V.P. That seemed pretty good. He's a likable guy and even his gaffes have a charming quality to them.
Furthermore, he's already had eight years' experience in that job.
Indeed, AFAIK, no one has ever been elected as Vice-President with that much prior experience in the office.

Ah, The Atlantic, trying hard to pretend it not just another establishment rag. E.g.:

As she maintains her commanding lead in the race, effectively sealing off Sanders’s path to the Democratic nomination, Clinton has intensified her efforts to win over the senator’s supporters.

Uh, her lead is only "commanding" if you pretend all those Dem-primary superdelegates are legally committed to voting for HillBillary. If Sanders "commandingly" wins the CA primary next month, her non-superdelegate-including lead could vanish quickly. Note I believe that most SDs will in fact vote according to their bribes, barring a shock indictment (shock not because her lawbreaking is unobvious - it is in fact blatantly obvious and multipronged - but because she is part of the DC Untouchable Elite criminal caste) between now and the convention, just saying that in a non-rigged electoral regime there would be no "commanding lead" based on the primaries to date.

And the article fails (honest 'whoopsie' oversight, I'm sure) to mention a scenario I have heard many Sanders supporters vow to hew to on the Naked Capitalism blog: If Hillary is the Dem nominee, they will either vote for Trump (I call this the "Schadenfreude demographic") or stay home in November. Sentiments expressed include "what the DC establishment needs most of all is a swift kick to the nuts and Trump serves that end admirably" and "A vote for Hillary is a vote for elite corruption."

Early 2017 inauguration headline just popped into my head ... given how the MSM loves to portray The Donald as a clod and a buffoon, if he does become president, go with frontpage splash picture of Trump with hand on bible, under headline "Oaf of Office."
Trump offered himself as a friend of coal. He compared stalled federal rules curbing emissions from coal-fired power plants to regulations that he said have weakened his hair spray.

“It used to be real good,” he said. “Today, you put the hair spray on, it’s good for 12 minutes.”
I understand that dilute cyanoacrilates have amazing holding power.

I am not making this up. I once knew a stylist who did a lot of work with models. This was one of the tricks to get just the right look at a shoot.

ok. The mission is to sneak this stylist into Trump's circle through his wife's modelling career. Another team will emplace a Van DeGraaff generator into the bible that Trump will touch when he takes the oath of office. I'm not clear on the rest of the details but the goal is to superglue the heck out of his hair while it is sticking up like a frightened chimpanzee child.

Then he won't loosen regulatory commitments on coal carbon emissions because he will no longer link this to bad hair spray. Global warming lies in the balance. This may be the first of many necessary interventions.

I'm thinking we can get Rip Torn to throw glitter on his head at the crucial moment confusing the circumstances and possibly distracting his ire.
So I live in NY and tomorrow is the big primary

My OP prediction was against one dem and one rep.
One quit, the other seems like teflon on steroids.
Is it possible for both conventions to go contested
past their first rounds and some two new candidate
choices get presented to the electorate? Or are we
likely to elect one or the other of the front runners?
This is and odd election cycle, to say the least.

Who are you going to vote for?
I'm registered independent, so I can't vote until November.
By chosen principle, I won't decide my vote until all major
party candidates are publicly decided.

Much like having escrow when buying a home, you know the part where political parties have established roles that strive to provide an influence on candidates and procedures and thus don't hand over control prior to all the rituals and prerequisite steps being followed? Not so much any more.
House Speaker Paul Ryan would back out of chairing the Republican National Convention in July, if Donald Trump asks him to, his office confirmed Monday.

Ryan first made the comments to a home-town paper, telling the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, "He's the nominee. I'll do whatever he wants with respect to the convention."
