Although it is superficial (literally) to judge someone on appearances, one need not entirely dismiss a face that trips every atavistic creep response. This wanker's appearance is as beyond the norm as psychology's facial affect of the Aurora Killer.

What is he going to propose banning next?

Electric toothbrushes, or cell-phones with Hapitc feedback?

Actually, I suspect there's an app for that....

"Cruz's stance that using a dildo was like hiring a prostitute..."

I suspect the clearly flawed premise here is what did Mr. self-anointed-by-God in - if 'hiring a prostitute' is in any way analogous to dildo-usage it must needs be akin to *renting* a dildo, whereas the law in question involves *sales* of such. In fact, based on the permanence of such sales - such items not generally being returnable - I could argue on a much better legal basis that buying a dildo is, if anything, more like an old-fashioned marriage contract, before the days of no-fault divorces. As such it should moreover be treated as sacred!

In other Cruz news, it appears Cruz and Kasich have been colluding to try to deny Trump the nomination by way of state-by-state "I'll stop campaigning here if you do the same there" deals - e.g. Kasich stops campaigning in Indiana, where he lags Cruz in polls, in hopes that his would-be voters will switch to Cruz, allowing him to narrowly beat Trump and garner all the delegates in that state, its primary being a winner-take-all one. Two problems, though:

[1] Said collusion bolsters Trump's repeated argument that the primary system is rigged by the party establishment - Trump wasted no time in making hay over the aforementioned skullduggery in the media and out on the trail - and

[2] Stopping campaigning in a state is one thing; getting voters who were inclined to vote for you there to switch to Brand Y quite another.

I gotta say, I'm really relishing watching the Repug party elite twist itself into a Gordian knot. Will The Donald end up playing the mythical Alexander the Great who, confronted with said impossible tangle, 'untied it' by simply unsheathing his sword and cleaving it in two? An unlikely piece of imagery, to be sure - but it's been a pretty unlikely presidential campaign year! I love the smell of establishment-crook desperation in the morning.

I don't like when I make unsupported assertions even in the Soapbox so I decided to spend a few minutes looking at this one today.

First I checked search hit counts for candidates using: "name" + creepy

"hillary clinton" + creepy
About 755,000 results

"bernie sanders" + creepy
About 484,000 results

"donald trump" + creepy
About 1,580,000 results

"ted cruz" + creepy
About 509,000 results

The counts did not match my expectations.
Perhaps the high negative opinion of Trump may be a factor in his count being such an outlier (yes, a never-ending sequence of assertions but, look, squirrel!)

On Ted Cruz, here are the top entries:
“As a neurologist it is my business to notice things out of the ordinary and probe them,” he wrote. “Senator Cruz’s countenance doesn’t shift the way I expect typical faces to move. Human faces can’t help but broadcast what we feel, what we may be thinking, and even what we may intend.”

“I have rarely, if ever, seen a conventional smile from Senator Cruz. In a natural smile the corners of the mouth go up; these muscles we can control voluntarily as well. But muscles circling the eyes are involuntary only; they make the eyes narrow, forming crow’s feet at the outside corners,” he continued. “No matter the emotional coloring of Senator Cruz’s outward rhetoric, his mouth typically tightens into the same straight line. If it deviates from this, the corners of his mouth bend down, not upwards.”

“Downturned expressions usually signal disagreeableness or disgust. But I honestly don’t know because such an expression is rare in the context of public presentations that are meant to win people over. He may well be unaware that the message of his body language is incongruent with his words,” he said before concluding, “Google ‘Ted Cruz smiling,’ and judge for yourself. For the record I am not a Democrat. I’m at a loss to verbalize what unsettles me so when I watch the freshman senator. But it leaves me cold.”
The top entries about Hillary were about her creepy laugh.
The top Bernie entries were about a creepy rape fantasy essay.
The top Donald entries were about creepy sexualized comments he made about his daughter.

And now I am much more creeped-out than when I started.

On a minor level I'm pondering what Vice President candidates make the most sense. Occasionally people suggest Elizabeth Warren with Hilary but that has been fairly well dismissed. Just today I read a suggestion for Joe Biden as V.P. That seemed pretty good. He's a likable guy and even his gaffes have a charming quality to them.

In the meantime in the wacky world that we apparently live in, Hillary Clinton Is Serious About UFOs - "The Democratic front-runner's talk of extraterrestrials is the least bizarre part of this election."

Elsewhere, during the White House Correspondents’ dinner, Larry Willmore's playing up the meme that Ted Cruz is the Zodiac Killer led me to look up that meme. Get this, a Republican poll finds:
Finally we find that 38% of Florida voters think it's possible that Ted Cruz is the Zodiac Killer. 10% say he for sure is, and another 28% say that they are just not sure. Cruz is exonerated from being a toddler serial killer by 62% of the Sunshine State populace.
That seems to be an incredibly specific belief. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So I'm not the only one that thinks he looks shifty, and the voting population at large will believe any damn thing.
