Sci-fi movie
I vaguely remember someone recommending a science fiction movie here in the Lounge I think, like maybe 2 years ago?
It was either about time travel or alternate realities and it had new and unknown actors, but was supposedly really good. Anyone remember the movie or can find the thread? |

The ending was just begging for a sequel. |

I'm not sure if I should split this off, but...
Reading the news behind Fear the Walking Dead, they said that the people of that universe, the same universe as the Walking Dead, though there won't be any crossover of characters, don't know the word zombie. So, I guess that means their horror movies, books, and whatever, are fundamentally different from ours. But it got me to thinking. There are probably some scifi concepts(in a sense, horror is related to scifi, mostly anyway, depending on how it's done) that aren't being explored that may become popular in the future. We've had Stargate, about wormholes to other planets, and that movie I can't remember the name of where guys in suits controlled fate...but also had the ability to use doorways to travel long distances. But what if wormhole technology was similar to regular tech, where it was possible to have literal doors that could let you travel long distances instantaneously(or at least at the speed of light) that would be rather chaotic, if it were possible. Controllable wormholes are one area that doesn't get explored, at least not in the out of control way I picture it being if they actually existed. You could rob a house and get away easily, in some cases you'd just stick your arm through a hole in space and swipe something without another part of your body entering the house. Another area is time travel from a more physics-related standpoint. When you observe the future you change it, so what about a movie where what you see in the future is what would happen if you hadn't looked in the first place. That would make more sense than movies like Looper or the Terminator Genisys clusterfuck. Are there any ideas you guys would like to see explored in movie form? |

Disambiguation, if you need it, is "Hamilton".

I was going to suggest SST Death Flight, not because of any likelihood of being the one the OP had in mind, but merely because it has roughly the largest total-star-power/film-merit ratio of any SciFi film I have seen. (And I am a late-nite-creecher-feecher and MST3K veteran of long standing, so I've seen my share of truly execrable material.)

Thank you everyone for all the suggestions. I think it might have been "Primer" I will check it out. I was hoping for a more "ahhh yes!" feeling from my memory when I saw the title, but what can you do. I might check out some of the other suggestions as well.

Maybe some slight spoilers, but here's a flowchart image for some additional movies.

I generally hate time travel stories.

What if the branch-offs were permanent and existed in tandem with the original timeline? So you could have this timeline and, say, a timeline where Obama didn't get elected for a second term. They'd both exist simultaneously, except maybe it's November 2006 in that timeline and today here. In order to "change" things in the other timeline, you'd have to make a third timeline. In a sense, you would've simply added complexity to your own timeline. |

It's an Amazon Prime movie, meaning I can watch it for "free." |
