I'm losing all of my hardware... yup, the cloud has reared it's ugly head into my world, and after my current assignments finish (just a handful) that'll be it.
Will you still have the ability to browse the GIMPS results data?

moebius 2017-08-14 19:01
I did pick that one up. I have a few more hours of checking power available.
Horrible result! I reacteded accordingly and have lowered the DRAM latencies and I started another Double-check.
Maybe the cloud will be cheaper for your company because your local machines used too much electrical energy for mprime. ;)
Nah. We had a flat rate for X amount of watts at our colocation. As long as we stayed at/below our allocated wattage it was fine. If we went over though, they'd catch it during their regular power audits and email me to make sure it was corrected. That only happened once and I still think they must have just seen a temporary spike... our power strips are the smart APC type and I graphed our wattage over time as part of our overall metrics. Oh well.

Yeah, this is just affecting my ability to do any testing, but I'm still administering the Primenet server.

Just to share... ROTF. LMAO...

Compute isn't free any more. However, the costs can be justified by ensuring the integrity of the hardware.

Here's a good old fashioned list of exponents where the user doing 'em had some bad stuff. I skimmed the top 100 ordered by their bad/good ratio (then re-sorted by exponent):

I just returned from a 4-week cruise. On the first day of the cruise, dream machine #1 died :yucky:

I think the USB stick went bad so it may take a few days to get it up and running again.

Edit: I moved all assignments to dream machine #2. I managed to restore some save files via iDrive backups.

I've been having poor luck with USB sticks. I've had 2 out of 4 die already. I really need to get PXE booting setup.

How are you using memory sticks in context with this project?

I have six of them. It's needless to say that I have never had one go bad.
