All right old salts, bilge rats, scurvy dogs and landlubbers all, your first mistake is believing that Paul made a mistake. In Modern Greek, sensible for this recent word, it would be something like αίβοφοβία. I say something like rather than specifying exactly because this lowly worm of a scrivener feels that even the modern monotonic convention may differentiate the stress on the two usages of iota. That kind of distinction would be one that Paul is well-suited to make.
