Carlos - did you encounter a lot of bad relations (-1 errors) when filtering this file? I got so many that msieve crashed with a modsqrt_1 failed error message. Your log file looks truncated for legibility, did you happen to notice bunches of bad relations? The download seemed to go smoothly but I can try again if you had no problems in filtering. |

I'm afraid C197_141_86 may be one for Greg:
Wed Dec 21 04:52:36 2016 weight of 44287911 cycles is about 5669689759 (128.02/cycle)
and the matrix-preparation process is using 20G on a 32G machine that I want to be able also to do software development on. Returning that one to the pool - if Greg doesn't decide to do it, I can stick it on my 64G 48xK10 machine for a couple of months in the New Year. Taking C259_130_107 instead. ... that's odd, when I delete my name from the 'postprocessor' field and update, it comes back. I can change it, but not to nothing. |

Trying to postprocess 13*2^784-1, my first contribution to this effort.
I have the fb and ini files correctly downloaded and named, but the relations .gz file is unopenable by either msieve or archive manager (I tried unpacking in linux, and directing msieve to the .gz with -s, as well as naming it msieve.dat.gz and hoping msieve found it). When none of these worked, I tried downloading the .gz rels file again, same failures. Do I have to wait for all relations to come in before downloading the .gz relations file? Am I missing something on my end? |
You don't have to wait. I don't have msieve with ZLIB so I have to manually unzip the file. Have you tried?
gunzip msieve.dat.gz
|
After unpacking the file move the original file to other folder and try running msieve.
|
I use 7zip for all the msieve downloads with no problems.
gunzip msieve.dat.gz

Thanks Rich! This worked perfectly. Not sure why the built-in-to-GUI archive manager failed; perhaps file size too big. Filtering now. |

Is LA running Curtis? |
Yes, it's complete. Took 22 hours for 6.8M matrix at TD=130. Unfortunately, I killed X by installing a second GPU, and haven't gotten X back up yet, so the factors are stuck on the machine temporarily. I should have it fixed Monday or Tuesday. I ran msieve in the console.
I ran about 1.3t50 of ECM, and I'm sad to say it had a p52 factor. |
That's a pity Curtis.
In the meantime C208_127_84 LA is underway, just hope the factors come in before I leave to Cambdrige, on Wednesday morning, otherwise I'll post the factors this Friday afternoon. |

Yes, the p52 is from the LA for 13*2^784-1. Yes, I can tail, or any other console command, but I've no way to get the log (or the screen output) to another machine until I get X back up. I don't have it set up to accept ssh connections, and would rather spend time fixing X than figuring out how to transfer a file from a console shell.

Thanks. It goes like this: - using 428,484,349 relations filtering fails to produce a matrix at td=128 - using 429,259,244 relations filtering produces a matrix at td=124 but, using 8 threads on Intel Xeon E5-2670 v2, I get
Fri Dec 30 10:34:41 2016 matrix is 20341268 x 20341445 (9856.9 MB) with weight 2823469472 (138.80/col) ....
