Hi

As i dont have enough space in memory for store a large matrix and have just one computer for linear algebra stage, i might consider the idea of storing matrix in hard disk, load
parts of matrix in memory to solve it and after merge results ?
How much memory do you have? Most modern machines should have enough memory to handle the postprocessing of a 30-bit job.

I have a notebook core i5 with 6GB of memory and i want factorize a semiprime number with 220 digits.

swellman 2016-03-16 01:11

This thread is for volunteering and reserving the postprocessing work (filtering, linear algebra, sqrt, GCD, all using msieve) for various factoring efforts listed here and here. If you are attempting to factor a specific 220 digit semi-prime of your choosing, this is not the appropriate thread. If you have a means of factoring it with SNFS, start or add to a thread in the factoring subforum. And splitting so large a number with GNFS is beyond all but the most powerful clusters.

If I've misunderstood your intentions, please let me know.

If your semiprime does not have a special form you will basically need a cluster to do the linear algebra in less than a year. You can't solve that problem in pieces, all the data needs to be in high-speed memory all the time.
