Xyzzy: I copied the DVD to a fast HDD (4TB WD RE4 Enterprise drive) in the computer. Would a flash really be quicker?

I think flash memory should always (?) be quicker than HDD.
For speed & prize: SSD(flash) > HDD > tape

Anyone uses tape archive at home?
I have never used it before.
It looks interesting to me.

Flash is faster, of course, if it is on the same SATA interface as the HDD. USB flash drives are usually not as fast as SSDs.

I have used tape on a previous job. In general, [URL="http://www.newegg.com/Backup-Drives/SubCategory/ID-46"]tape data drives[/URL] are quite expensive, and the tapes are not cheap, either. These days, HDDs are cheap enough to be viable backup media.
