Prime 95 v2.85 and Broadwell chipset

Hi Guys,

Recently I have caught one new issue that the error message"Prime 95 have stop working" pop up and stop testing on Broadwell chipset(FR:100%). However, the issue cannot duplicate with Prime95 v2.79.It's so weird that why the issue only occur on Prime95 v2.85? Is the version not compatibility the broadwell chipset? Or the broadwell units has some problem need be fixed? Please help me give some comments, any suggestion would be appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Hi,

v27.9: using AVX
v28.5: using AVX/FMA3

If you have access to Broadwell systems you should have an Intel representative to ask, too.
Everyone answering here in public is going to violate NDA with Intel I guess...

Intel® Core™ M processor notebooks are out in the wild already. Those are Broadwell, are not they?

Hi Oliver,

I don't understand why it is going to violate NDA with Intel if debate in here? Also, the issue is so strange that I have to get the answer, please help me!

Those Intel(R) Core M processors have a TDP of only 4.5W, could it be a thermal limit?

Arvinliu:

Hi Oliver,

Thanks for your replay! Yes, I know the baisc information is less that let the problem be resolved deeply difficut. From my view, I always consider the problem be caused by Prime 95 v2.85 itself. Thank you for your help, perhaps the issue will be resovled later if the Broadwell CPU is selling on the market that more people used it! Hope for contacting with you later, best wish for you!

Issues are being resolved, not because people are using stuff, but because error reports are being filed and resolved through analysis. So, maybe you are on to something. Please provide the requested details and any other circumstances that may be relevant, so someone can try to reproduce your results.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply, as your said the issue must be resolved that only being provide the requested details to analysis by expert.
So I will try to provide the details as following for your reference.

1. OS type: Windows 8.1
2. Failed CPU: all the i3-5xxx/i5-5xxx/i7-5xxx of Broadwell CPU
3. Only the error message"prime 95 has stop working" occurred then stop running testt, there is no any other issue be found.
Note:
The error message"The prime 95 has stop working" pop up and the testing be aborted(tool version: pime95 v285) after running the prime 95 about 2 hours with default setting. But, the error cannot reproduce if use the prime 95 v279 even if running the test more than 8 hours continuously.

Is there any other clue I have lost? Please advise, any suggetion would be apprecited. Thanks in advance!

Hi Arvinliu,

these CPUs are not released yet... Ask your Intel representative. Especially if you think it is a hardware issue!

Oliver

IANAL: writing down the product names "i3-5xxx/i5-5xxx/i7-5xxx" might break the NDA already even if everybody knows them, not sure about this.
