P-1 B1 and B2 the same?

Hi,

I'm running a large LL test and I noticed that in Stage 1 factoring, it shows B1 and B2 having the same value. Is this normal? I'm wondering if it's one of the following:

1. When it reaches stage 2, will B2 be modified to a larger number?
2. Does this mean it will skip stage 2 altogether because there is no range between B1 and B2?
3. Will it attempt stage 2 anyway, and not find anything?
4. Or is this a bug of some sort?

Thanks,
Drew

1. No
2. Yes
3. No
4. No, unless you count the fact that you have some odd settings for memory. Stage 2 is memory hungry. To make Prime95 do (more/less) stage 2, set something like 1024 in Options/CPU/Daytime/Nighttime boxes. Or more, if you have. Your windows can survive in few megs of RAM, and can do well in 1 or 2 gigs, so, if you don't do memory-consuming activities with your computer, then give some more memory to P95. It will only be used when stage 2 is ongoing, and if you have more workers, you can limit how many of them will do stage 2 in the same time, and when they are allowed to do stage 2 (see undoc.txt in P95 distribution).

Thanks for that. Indeed, my memory was set very low (probably the default). I bumped it up to 4096 (I have 16 gB) and the parameters changed.
