38.Bg4 as predicted. Here I advocate ...Ke8. Can you guys see an alternative?

38...Ke8 (threatening ...Bc5+) does seem to be the only move which allows us to keep the a pawn, the point being that after a tempo gaining rook check we can protect a5 with the bishop. We lose the g6 pawn which is less obviously losing, and we might be able to get some play after that. Your posted line in the Move 36 thread (your first posting in that thread!) was 38..Ke8 39.Ra6 Bb4 40.Rxg6 Bd2. I agree with you. EDIT: For the record, you actually proposed this line way back at post 22 in the Move 35 thread! |
I am happy with Ke8
|
Gentlemen, I made through the audit and I am happy once again!
I agree with Ke8. |
All agreed then. I advocate playing 38...Ke8 now, unless anyone has anything else to suggest.
We'll have to see who's still around when it's time to play our 39th move. There's a period coming up shortly when at least three of us are less reachable than is normal. But I expect we'll muddle through somehow. |
Let's move now.
Perhaps we can ask for a summer break from our worthy opponents? |
I am happy with moving now.
