I think that the records pages should include categories sorted by SNFS difficulty, otherwise there are a lot of numbers which are prohibitively difficult to do by GNFS but where there's no incentive to do them by SNFS.
Unfortunately, it's now too hard to backcast all such factorizations. Nevertheless, I don't remember the SNFS difficulty ever surpassing the record.

Anyway, we do it mostly for fun, that is not a championship with rules or referees. Otherwise we would probably have defined some weight categories for polynomial coefficients of various sizes, several divisions from "quartics" to "septics", a few nominations like "single machine", "personal cluster" and so on :)

Would you like us to also post the XYYXF factorizations done by NFS@home here? Or do you scan the factordb for completed factorizations?

XYYXF 2015-10-01 00:05

I don't scan factordb but sometimes check the reserved numbers.

AFAFIK, NFS@home factorizations are posted here:

Done on my own hardware, this was actually quite a substantial job - SNFS difficulty 251.3, but quite large coefficients on the algebraic side mean a combined-score of 4.77e-14. 3^529-1, with larger SNFS difficulty 252.4 but much better combined-score 1.923e-13, sieved in about 73 million CPU-seconds on similar hardware.

177.9 million CPU-seconds (on 48 Opteron-6168 cores, between 16-Aug and 6-Oct) to sieve 387299563 relations (312038758 unique); 4.0 million CPU-seconds (on 4 i7/4770K cores, between 6-Oct and 18-Oct) to do the linear algebra on a 19.3M density-112 matrix ... even with 387M relations, which is usually more than enough for a 32-bit-LP job, it wasn't possible to build with a higher density than that.

Please change reservation to NFS@Home. It went sideways on me and they came to the rescue. Thank you.
