I've gotten this twice today, is this normal?
Thanks |
LLRnet is an old program and so has a few issues here and there. There was probably a temporary connection issue with the server. I wouldn't be too concerned about it unless you see it happening frequently.
By the way, you have already found a prime! Have you set up with AMDave to send you Email notification of primes? All that he needs is your Email address. To see info. about our two LLRnet servers, see our LLRnet servers thread at http://www.mersenneforum.org/showthread.php?t=10042. In the first post, you can see a bunch of links to various stats and other things. You can also see recent primes found in those links. Check out all the links and links within the links. There will be probably be more info. than you'll ever need. |

Is there a newer/better program? Sorry, I'm new here. |

Nevermind. Switching over to PRPClient :D |

Actually we kind of needed more help on the LLRnet servers. :-) But you are free to search as you please. |

If the LLRnet servers "need more help", then maybe that means it's time to phase out one or more LLRnet server in favor of a PRPnet server? |

I tend to agree. We don't have any additional PRPnet servers set up right now although I might be able to convert a personal server over to a public server at some point. A few of our regs. wanted to keep a couple of LLRnet servers around so that is what we did. Ian and/or Karsten, would you care to weigh in on this? |

Ok... switching some back to LLRnet  |
Can I suggest that it might be sensible to have some of the same drives on both llrnet and prpnet for the time being. Everyone should be asked to use prpnet. Once the server has been inactive for a few months then it can be shut down(after someone drys it).
|
Yes, PRPNet please... I have to restart 2-3 "terminals" a day on LLRNet.
|
My inclination at this point is to change one of the LLRnet servers to PRPnet so that we have 3 PRPnet servers and 1 LLRnet server. I'll see what current PRPnet servers I have available. I don't want to create a new one.
Ian, I'm thinking that we can stop the 8k mini-drive on LLRnet port 7000 at n=1.575M and start processing it on a PRPnet server. After that is done to n=2M (which will be a while), then we could change the 17k maxi-drive on LLRnet port 3500 over to the same PRPnet server. Are you OK with this? That would ultimately phase out LLRnet. |

Okay by me. You can use my private PRPNET - port 1468. Max may have to jiggle some things to show that on the PRPNET status page. |

OK, I have port 1468 cleaned out and ready to go. Candidates are prepared but have not yet been loaded. I've contacted Dave about behind-the-scenes stats stuff and Max about updating the status page. I've already heard back from Dave. It may be a while before I hear from Max but we can go without the status page update for a short period of time. I'll wait 3-4 days after Dave says he is ready before loading anything and making the official announcement. Ian, in the mean time, would you mind making port 7000 more of a priority for your LLRnet clients? I will delete all pairs n>1575000 in a little while. I'm just trying to get it mostly cleaned out so there's not much of a gap. Thanks. Gary |
I just checked Max's program prpnet-status-pagegen and the port is all accounted for.
Max already has that port coded for. Should also be good to go. Fire at will. .... awww poor Will :P |
