Not sure if this belongs to this thread but a few weeks ago I decided to give ago on a first attempt for Mersenne numbers and this morning it finished. Run time is not accurate because I’ changed several times from two cores to three cores on my old laptop in function of the room temperature.

GIMPS was very generous on my birthday.

While attempting to "clear" a range for my factoring sub-sub-sub project ...

In the previous week I only found 1 factor when I expected 6, I got 6 more in the next 48 hours with 4 of those on my birthday completing the range.

Fiber?

Latest check on neighborhood status yielded basically "Great news! Your neighborhood is an approved fiber build and services are estimated to launch in mid 2019." Yay, can't wait! Even though I'm skeptical about the scheduling because there are many other neighborhoods nearby that were approved earlier, it's an encouraging step. I'm definitely looking forward to not needing to drive to town for any appreciable sized download or upload, that times out early on my existing slow unreliable DSL that's been climbing in cost while declining in performance.

So, I had to create an Entity Relationship Diagram for a position paper I'm writing. Did a quick search to see if there's any good Linux software for this (Dia does the job, but the output is a little wanting in many ways).

I came across Draw.io, an Open Source "In Browser" diagramming solution. It took a little while to "make friends with", but within a few hours I had a nice looking draft diagram ready to share with my teammates to review. :tu:

P.S. It offered to let me use my Google Drive for storage, but that would involve my giving it access; not going to happen. No problem; it also allows for Browser Storage, as well as the local device.

I've used draw.io at work. It's a nice tool for creating quick, nothing fancy, diagrams.

Just booked flights to La Palma for 12 June.

Will be able to do some observational astronomy again. Will also be living in a half-way decent climate again.
