"My name is Luka, I live upstairs from you....."
Ah. That song was a hit just a year or two before I would have heard it and remembered. Good song. She's a good dog, a little shy and fearful, but coming out of her shell fast. I'm very curious what her story could have been, but I guess I'll never know. |

I was told that Ikea hated Latino men, and did not like the UPS truck. She showed up in the middle of hurricane Ike, at the house of a friend-of-a-friend in Houston. The guy took her in, and called her "Ike" until someone pointed out that Ike was female. Her name then became "Ikea." :spot:  |
I thought you wanna say Laika... About Luka, living upstairs, we have a different version, he wasn't a dog, but a 14 years old guy smoking and masturbating in his bathroom...
(in fact, when you asked if she lives upstairs, I was thinking it is a moon-related joke, Luna=Moon, etc, didn't think to the song) @masser: we wish you two have a lot of fun together! |
Children...

So, I was in my doctor's office awaiting his attention. I have a pinched nerve in my back which is causing a great deal of pain in my right leg (what doesn't hurt doesn't work).
Of course there was a TV blaring noise, showing a soap opera. I asked the receptionist if she could turn off the noise. She said she would have to ask all the other patients if they wouldn't mind. They didn't (there were three of them, and they were all focused on their phones). I thanked her, and then hobbled back to my seat to meditate through the pain. Of course, shortly later another patient came into the office with a young child, who immediately ran to the toy box immediately beside me, and made a great deal of noise picking up all the toys and trying to play with them. Unfortunately they were all broken. This actually helped me calm down a little bit, and I interacted with this sweet little girl for about fifteen minutes trying to teach her how to fix things, and how to identify when things can't be fixed. I joked with the doctor and the receptionist that they shouldn't provide broken toys to children unless they also provide epoxy. After my appointment the little girl ran up to me and asked "You're leaving?" "Yes little one. It was a pleasure meeting you." And I shook her hand. |

Chris, just curious, have you tried inversion therapy? |

Yes. I recently fired my Chiropractor for charging me $120 an hour for putting me in a machine which stretched me. I have been doing effectively the same thing for free in my pool (can't touch the bottom at the deep end, and adding some weights to my feet results in the same thing). |

I know places where you can, during waiting, play with geckos and snakes... Living ones. Wish you get well soon, and come visit them, hehe... |

Wish you get well soon, and come visit them, hehe...
Can't manage snakes but we have a gecko living in our kitchen in LP. Helps keeps the bugs down so it's quite welcome to stay there. Back in Blighty now  the ceiling out in the big room is leaking badly, something which doesn't happen in LP. Can't get the maintenance workers here... |
I could probably put this in the "Unhappy me" thread too.
Our foster cat, Cinder, was adopted today. She had been with us since April. She will be very happy in her new home as she won't be competing with another cat. I will miss her as we were very attached to one another. My wife is now looking for another Bengal to foster. Eventually we'll find a foster that we can adopt. |

Although I know it hurts, you should take some joy in the fact you did this little fur ball a lot of good. And from what you've said, you'll do so again soon for another kitten. A quote I really like: "Cats are a bit like an ideal gas. They quickly occupy all available space. |
