Magic fluid...
So, our pool sprung a leak.
We kept saying to our pool maintenance guy our pool has a leak. No, he kept saying, that's just the expected evaporation. The Barbados Water Authority showed up one morning, and said "you're drawing a lot of water". Two weeks later we received a water bill for ~ $600 BDS. TL;DR. A Canadian product called "Fix A Leak" was dumped into the pool. Four days later the leak was fixed. Cost for the bottle? ~ $75 BDS. |

These two news reports were quite sweet: 800 pets and counting and Mounties helping displaced livestock. Also, Williams Lake has received a lot of rain yesterday. More hoped for tomorrow (Saturday). |
My GTX 1060 turned in its first CUDALucas result today with a match of a verified result. It did this with factory stock clocks for GPU and VRAM. This is the first card I have run this program on which succeeded at stock settings, especially for RAM. It is doing just under 3.7 ms/it. GPU is reported as 1885 MHz, RAM at 3802 MHz, 70 C.
EDIT: This is just over twice as fast as a GTX 460, on the same 40M exponent. 3.6889ms/it v 7.5440ms/it. |

Cruising

We are just about to book on a seven day Atlantis cruise. It is in October, sailing from San Diego, with stops at Cabo, Puerto Vallarta, and Mazatlan. Atlantis arranges all-gay cruises. The ship will be Holland America's Oosterdam. We are looking to get a "Veranda Stateroom" which includes a private balcony. I have never been on any kind of cruise. This will be an intense introduction! :max::crazy::big grin:

I am a cruise-addicted, already collected ten with different companies  IMHO, Holland-America offers the quietest possile cruise, with almost no involvement with groups and games. You will definitely enjoy it! :tu: |
The Oosterdam is a good looking ship. It was docked next to the cruise ship that I was aboard in Ketchikan, Alaska, last May.

It does look good. The cruise and the line are hyping recently redone interiors. I don't expect to spend a lot of time in the cabin, though a balcony to sit on at sea has a lot of attraction. It occurs to me, that a ship going mostly North and South will have a Sunrise side and a Sunset side. We are, at least, avoiding the Oceanview staterooms with a close-up view of a lifeboat. |

Brian and I were on the Oosterdam last year in the Mediterranean (without a private balcony!) and we enjoyed it.
Many cruise lines at the luxury end of the market use flags of convenience but Holland America Line continue to register all their ships in Rotterdam. This means that Dutch safety regulations apply on board, which are a much higher standard than those of certain countries we could mention. There is also a drift in the cruise industry to close off more public space on the ships for use as cabins, shops or other profit-generating services. But on the Oosterdam you can still walk all the way around the ship on the promenade deck with an unrestricted view out to sea, or ride up and down in the glass elevators looking outwards. We have also been on some Atlantis cruises and enjoyed their friendly atmosphere. Have a great time! |
Thanks, Nick! I was hoping you would have something to say, and this is more than I might have expected. It is fantastic that you know the ship!
