That's right- my next milestone. Once around the planet! Though I'm sure I won't be attempting a second lap.
Norm
That number looks like 23.999 instead of 23,999. I wonder what will happen if you go so far as to roll it over. |

[...]
This illustrates a source of confusion. Here in Europe we use the dot and the comma for precisely the opposite purposes as you do in the USA when writing decimal numbers with fractional part. |

True- I have to regularly remind myself to spell things out in words to international clients, to be sure there's no confusion, particularly on prices. I'd be curious to learn how it came to be this way. Probably a good story in there somewhere. Norm |
A personal milestone- my bike odometer turned over 24,000 miles on the way home from work the other night. (But took the picture below because I wasn't sure how picturesque the background would be at exactly 24,000. Should have scouted it out in advance).
Norm
Sigma also produces (or sell) this? Good luck the the next 24,000. |

Yes- the odometer is a Sigma, model BC 16.12. Some models are wireless, but this one uses wires, and is therefore less expensive. Its been reliable, and has more functions than I really need: speeds, distances, times, averages, cadence, temperature, and can keep track of information for two different bikes, if you want to switch the unit between bikes. No real problems that I remember. Yes, onward to the next milestone! Norm |

A common convention on engineering documents with international targeting is to do away with dedicated separation characters altogether and use merely a space to denote thousands. E.g 24 000 km. (I don't recall off the top of my head what is done in the case of requiring a decimal)

Just submitted my first completed The Listener crossword in two years and only the second in almost a decade.

1,000 Miles
I've been a casual runner for just over 3 years and just surpassed 1,000 miles (1,600 Kms).
Interestingly that is almost exactly the distance from my home to the town of Marathon Ontario (though I have never run a Marathon....just a half). By "casual" I mean I average less than two runs a week and about 25 miles a month. |

When I started commuting by bicycle to save gas money and do my small part for clean air, that seemed to be plenty of exercise. Norm |
How far is your commute?
