10,000 Curves

No I was NOT in the Playboy Mansion....

I mean I just completed 10,000 ECM curves for unfactored exponents under 20000.
Interestingly it resulted in almost exactly 1,000 GhzDays.
And exactly 0 factors so far.

I currently have all 164 of these exponents distributed among 4 Quads.

I plan to complete about 200,000 curves this year.

Anyone want to hazard a guess as to the odds I find a factor with this many curves?

Top 500!

I have finally bounced my way in to the Top 500 in the Top Producers list for the last year for First LL Tests! Earlier this year, when I first noticed the lists on Mersenne.org, my ranking seemed pretty erratic, so I decided to track it on a daily basis. The ranking jumps up when I turn in results obviously, drops when results get older than 365 days, and drifts slowly downward in between. Smaller bumps in the standings are probably the result of other people that produce at about the same rate as I do, as their results are turned in or aged out. There's probably an interesting signal processing exercise in here someplace.

Attached is the plot- Since I'll turn in two more results later this month before the next two oldest drop out, I should stay in the top 500 for a while. Attached is the plot; also shows my Lifetime ranking- no chance I'll ever crack the top 500 unless I get a serious boost in processing power.

Nice graph! Congrats!
As long as the blue one is higher than the orange one, it is ok, your "lifetime" goes up, no matter the processing power. See this in context of all producers, it only matter how much they all produce, per time unit. Like AA says, one day at a time... hehe

I am not, tanks for asking. Very busy at job, and very tired at home, have to finish 3 different projects before going to Australia mid of Feb, and there is a lot of stress and pain (Chinese New Year, etc., dead period to buy components, to get samples, to make PCBs, etc. grrr). Now midnight here, no time for the forum, but I could not resist logging in to see what's going on at the prime-hunting front.

OTOH, look what they published in the local papers... (this is good and bad, if you think about).

So, a client finally figured out that names are important.

One of the founders has an unusual name.

I finally convinced them that perhaps they might consider that fact.

I regained my Internet connection, and after some struggling here I am back counting! I recovered the backlog on my mailboxes, now trying to read the last 20,000 posts since December 8th...

A movie worth watching...

So, I watched the movie/film "Hidden Figures" this afternoon. I even paid for the tickets and the popcorn in a theatre (Limegrove #1 for anyone who cares).

Deeply moving, and relatively historically accurate. Please see http://www.popularmechanics.com/space/rockets/a24429/hidden-figures-real-story-nasa-women-computers/

My big "take away" was just how [expletive] stupid it is to judge people by the colour of their skin or their sex.

I thought Kevin Costner's performance and role was fabulous. The character didn't even notice there was a race or sex issue until it was brought forward to his attention because he was too deeply involved with the engineering and the mathematics.

The character's response to this was the only logical path.

Please watch the thing to draw your own opinion.

Phobos is responding to the meds...

So, my youngest kitten, Phobos (named after a moon of Mars; we already had a ginger cat named Mars so it made sense) got a second opinion, and has responded well to a combination of antibiotics and antiinflammatoires.

She takes the pills well (two pills twice a day), and she gets treats afterwards. And she probably won't have to go under the knife.

Thanks for the support guys.
